HORIZONTAL EFFICIENCY [5 records]

Record 1 2015-04-21

English

Subject field(s)
  • Econometrics
  • Economic Planning
OBS

Diagram 6 illustrates the trade-off which occurs between program adequacy(horizontal efficiency) and measures of vertical efficiency as basic support levels are increased in this type of income supplementation scheme. As the program becomes more generous, additional low-income families benefit from the provisions and the low-income gap is reduced, but more higher-income families(...) also benefit.

Record 2 2015-04-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Economic Planning
CONT

... the degree to which a program intended to benefit [a] group... reaches all members of this group... Horizontal efficiency may be defined in the two dimensions :(1) as the ratio of the number of beneficiaries in the target group to the total number of persons in the target group, and(2), as the ratio of benefits going to the target group to the total benefits "needed" by that group.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Planification économique
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Crude Oil and Petroleum Products
  • Natural Gas and Derivatives
  • Solid Fossil Fuels
CONT

Vertical stratification of horizontal permeability is probably the primary factor controlling invasion efficiency.

OBS

Most formations have vertical to horizontal permeability.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Pétroles bruts et dérivés
  • Gaz naturel et dérivés
  • Combustibles fossiles solides
DEF

[Perméabilité] correspondant à un écoulement des fluides parallèlement au litage.

Subject field(s)
  • Audiovisual Techniques and Equipment
  • Television (Radioelectricity)
  • Audio Technology
CONT

Line quadrupling is similar to line doubling except that the number of horizontal scan lines are increased by a factor of four instead of two. Increasing the horizontal scan rate by a factor of four(to 63 kHz), allows most CRT's [cathode ray tubes] to obtain a range of optimum efficiency, maximizing light output with projector light output up to 60% brighter than NTSC, PAL, or SECAM displays. In addition to increased picture brightness, the image becomes smoother and has a "film-like" quality.

  • Télévision (Radioélectricité)
  • Électroacoustique
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Pumps
  • Fluid Mechanics and Hydraulics (Physics)
DEF

A pump with a horizontal cylindrical casing in which operates a runner with radial blades like those of a ship's propeller. The pump has a high efficiency at low heads and high discharges, and is used extensively in drainage work.
