... at night the air in contact with the mountain is cooler than farther from the land mass and so the cooler air sinks along the slope producing the mountain breeze. 3, record 1, English, - mountain%20breeze
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 CONT
mountain breeze ... As the slopes become colder than the surrounding atmosphere, the lower levels of air cool and drain to the lowest point of the terrain. It may reach several hundred feet in depth, and extreme cases, attain speeds of 50 knots or greater. It blows in the opposite direction of a valley breeze. 2, record 1, English, - mountain%20breeze
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 3 CONT
During the night, the air along the mountain slopes begins to cool quickly because of longwave radiation loss... As the air cools, it becomes more dense and begins to flow downslope causing a mountain breeze. Convergence of the draining air occurs at the valley floor and forces the air to move vertically upward. The upward movement is usually limited by the presence of a temperature inversion which forces the air to begin moving horizontally. This horizontal movement completes the circulation cell system. In narrowing terrain, mountain winds can accelerate in speed because of the venturi effect. Such winds can attain speeds as high has 150 kilometers per hour. 4, record 1, English, - mountain%20breeze

The primary function of an air handling system for any type of clean room is to control the level of airborne contaminant particles by constantly filtering and recirculating the air. Technology Canada partnerships investment promotes sustainable development in deep oil sands extraction.... The project involves developing a water recycling technology that will remove environmental and economic barriers to heavy oil production using the steam-assisted gravity drainage(SAGD) system. With SAGD, steam injected into the formation from a horizontal well decreases the viscosity of the heavy oil and allows it to flow to a second parallel well where it is piped to the surface. This process uses the equivalent of three barrels of steam to produce one barrel of heavy oil. 5, record 3, English, - steam%2Dassisted%20gravity%20drainage

4, record 3, French, - drainage%20par%20gravit%C3%A9%20au%20moyen%20de%20vapeur

From its formal launch in 1996, Rolls-Royce has been involved in all main propulsion system elements of this project. During JSF’S Concept Demonstration phase, Rolls-Royce provided a range of components that enabled Lockheed Martin's X-35B prototype to prove its STOVL capabilities. Rolls-Royce supplied a LiftFan, driven by a shaft from the engine via a geared clutch, and a swivelling nozzle providing horizontal thrust for forward flight that can turn through 90 degrees to redirect the engine's exhaust flow down for vertical lift. 2, record 4, English, - swivelling%20nozzle

3, record 4, French, - tuy%C3%A8re%20orientable

Oil furnaces. Indoor oil furnaces... are available in upflow, downflow, horizontal and low-boy configurations for ducted systems. They are also available as floor furnaces, wall furnaces, and free standing space heaters. Oil-fired outdoor furnaces and combination units are rare.... The ducted system, oil-fired, forced air furnaces are usually equipped with pressure-atomizing burners. The pump pressure and the orifice size of the injection nozzle regulate the firing rate of the furnace. Electric ignition is used to ignite the burners.... The combustion chamber and heat exchanger of oil-fired furnaces are normally formed as a common single chamber. It is formed from heavy gage steel into a welded assembly. The hot flue products flow through the inside of the heat exchanger into the chimney. The conditioned air flows over the outside of the heat exchanger and into the air supply plenum. 1, record 6, English, - oil%20furnace
