HORIZONTAL PLANE EYE [8 records]

CONT

Scanning laser ophthalmoscopy is an imaging technique that mimics essential features of conventional fundus photography but has better spatial selectivity for the plane of interest in the fundus. Because [a scanning laser ophthalmoscope] picks up information only from a small volume in three-dimensional space at any given time and then reconstructs an image from a three-dimensional scanning array of such points, scatter and fluorescence from the anterior segment of the eye is very effectively rejected. Built on the flying-spot scanner principle, it only illuminates a spot with a diameter of a few micrometers at the fundus and then sweeps the spot across the horizontal and vertical directions of an image plane inside the eye...

CONT

... [horizontal pitons]... have varying forms, all with the plane of the carabiner hole, or eye, perpendicular to the blade. These used to be distinguished from verticals, which have the eye and blade in the same but which are rarely seen now, because it was found that horizontals work, better in both horizontal and vertical cracks.

French

Domaine(s)

CONT

Il est conseillé d'employer les pitons verticaux (lame et œil dans le même plan) dans les fissures horizontales et les pitons horizontaux (œil perpendiculaire à la lame) dans les fissures verticales.

The angle in the vertical plane between the normal to the front surface of the ocular at its boxed centre and the line of sight of the eye when looking straight ahead, usually taken to be the horizontal.

OBS

The angle is regarded as positive if the lower part of the ocular lies closer to the face.

DEF
