Embedded GPS INS. The EGI is in an all-attitude navigation system providing outputs of linear and angular acceleration, velocity, position, attitude (roll, pitch, and platform azimuth), magnetic and true heading, altitude, time tags, and time. The motion induced in a gyroscope by an applied force follows a simple rule. When the spinning top, for example, is acted upon by a gravity-induced torque, the original rotational motion tries to align itself with the added rotational motion of the torque. The motion, or precession, of the gyroscope that results is perpendicular to the applied torque. In other words, the spin vector tries to align itself with the torque vector; ... 2, record 14, English, - gravity%20torque

Gyroscopic pendulum. Free pendulum. The gyro spinning wheel is running at constant speed. The precession drive, which lies in a plane symmetric with respect to the gimbal is not controlled. When the gimbal becomes free, the gravity torque drives it around the horizontal axis, perpendicular to the symmetry plane, until it falls on the top. This rate of rotation of the gimbal creates a gyroscopic torque that makes the spinner rotate around the precession axis in spite of the friction due to the gear of the precession drive. 1, record 15, English, - gear%20of%20the%20precession%20drive

2, record 16, French, - moteur%20de%20pr%C3%A9cession

Windmills therefore fall into different classes according to the value of tip speed ratio(TSR) at which they operate. Slow running windmills, like the common farm air turbine, may operate at TSR=1 or 2, and with the fastest running windmills, perhaps up to TSR=6 or 7.(...) In the case of horizontal shaft windmills, it [the fast running windmill] resembles an ordinary propeller with rather wide blades, whereas a slow running windmill must be fitted with a large number of blades. 1, record 31, English, - slow%20running%20windmill
