... a pattern of horizontal scan lines, as traced by an electron beam on a computer screen. 2, record 1, English, - raster
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
It is commonly used as a term to describe a system of representing images, where the image is composed of small, internally uniform cells arranged in a grid. The order of image storage is typically by scanlines, progressing from left to right along scanlines, and then from top to bottom from one scan to the next. Some GIS systems use raster image structure. 2, record 1, English, - raster

[...] trame constituée de lignes horizontales tracées par un faisceau d'électrons sur l'écran d'un ordinateur. 2, record 1, French, - raster
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS

Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 CONT
When the beam has returned to the left side, its vertical position is lowered so that the beam will scan the next line down and not repeat the same line. This is accomplished by the vertical scanning motion of the beam, which is provided in addition to horizontal scanning. As a result of the vertical scanning, all the horizontal lines slope downward slightly from top to bottom. When the beam is at the bottom, vertical retrace returns the beam to the top to start the scanning sequence again. 4, record 2, English, - vertical%20scanning

Line quadrupling is similar to line doubling except that the number of horizontal scan lines are increased by a factor of four instead of two. Increasing the horizontal scan rate by a factor of four(to 63 kHz), allows most CRT's [cathode ray tubes] to obtain a range of optimum efficiency, maximizing light output with projector light output up to 60% brighter than NTSC, PAL, or SECAM displays. In addition to increased picture brightness, the image becomes smoother and has a "film-like" quality. 2, record 7, English, - line%20quadrupling

The helical aperture facsimile transmitter is fairly common on low-to mid-volume fax units. The original is roller fed over a flatbed copy platen and illuminated by an area lamp. Lens and mirror optics reflect and focus one scan line of the moving document at a time, first through a fixed horizontal slit aperture, and then through a rotating helical aperture. The rotating of the helical aperture produces one lateral scan of the original per revolution, with the passing light being focused a final time onto a photocell for conversion to an electrical signal. 1, record 8, English, - rotating%20helical%20aperture%20scanner
