Subject field(s)
  • Hormones
CONT

Somatostatin(also known as somatotropin release-inhibiting factor [SRIF]) is a tetradecapeptide; a 28-amino acid precursor [which] also has GH [growth hormone] inhibitory properties. Somatostatin blocks the rise in GH that occurs with all stimuli in a dose-dependent manner.

Key term(s)
  • somatofropin release inhibiting factor

French

Domaine(s)
  • Hormones
DEF

Record 3 2003-07-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Hormones
CONT

While somatostatin inhibits release of growth hormone by the anterior pituitary, growth hormone releasing hormone(GHRH) stimulates the release of growth hormone.

Key term(s)
  • GH-RH

French

Domaine(s)
  • Hormones
CONT
