Por lo tanto, lo adecuado es "lo/los dio de alta" si se trata de un referente masculino y "la/las dio de alta" si es femenino. Aunque esas son las formas recomendadas, se admite [...] el uso de le en lugar de lo cuando funciona como complemento directo y hace referencia a una persona de sexo masculino ("le dio de alta") [...] Esa excepción solo afecta al singular y no al plural, en el que se sigue considerando inadecuado el uso de les (lo indicado es "los dieron de alta", no "les dieron de alta"). Por el contrario, si se emplea la construcción "dar el alta", el pronombre que le corresponde es le(s) tanto si el referente es masculino como si es femenino, pues la persona que obtiene el alta se considera complemento indirecto.
