The immigrant condition is characterised precisely by differences compared to the native-born population. The objective of policy is to ensure that over time, these differences are reduced and that social and economic outcomes of immigrants are similar to those observed for the non-immigrant population. Children of immigrants, however, are not necessarily immigrants themselves, and even those born abroad may have arrived at an early age. Still, the immigrant experience clearly has an effect on them, even when they have been fully educated in the host country. 2, record 4, English, - immigrant%20condition

The National Olympic Committees(NOCs) promote the fundamental principles of Olympism at a national level within the framework of sports. NOCs are committed to the development of athletes and support the development of sport for all programs and high performance sport in their countries. They also participate in the training of sports administrators by organizing educational programs. Another objective of the National Olympic Committees is to ensure that athletes from their respective nations attend the Olympic Games. Only a NOC is able to select and send teams and competitors for participation in the Olympic Games. National Olympic Committees also supervise the preliminary selection of potential bid cities. Before a candidate city can compete against those in other countries, it first must win the selection process by the NOC in its own country. The National Olympic Committee can then name that city to the IOC as a candidate to host the Olympic Games. 3, record 10, English, - National%20Olympic%20Committee

1, record 10, French, - Comit%C3%A9%20National%20Olympique

Begun in 1995 by the National Capital Commission(NCC) under the general name of the Family Exchange Program, the objectives of the Celebrate Canada in the Capitals program are to foster a feeling of pride in Canada and to encourage Canadians to explore the rich culture and heritage of their country. In the beginning, the program enabled one randomly chosen family from each province and territory to visit Canada's Capital Region for five days during Winterlude, and twelve other families to travel to the Capital for Canada Day. During their stay, the winners were billeted with host families in the region, which added a friendly dimension to the program while giving participants a more connected exchange experience. 1, record 33, English, - Celebrate%20Canada%20in%20the%20Capitals

1, record 37, Spanish, - D%C3%ADa%20Mundial%20del%20Turismo

TOKTEN funds the services of expatriate national experts for well prepared short-term assignments, usually one to three months, with selected host institutions in the government, academic and research institutions, private sector and non-governmental organisations in developing countries.
