In 1994, Canada and the City of Montreal were selected by the International Vocational Training Organization(IVTO) to host the 35th World Skills Competition in 1999. The event was held between November 11-14 at the Olympic Stadium. It involved 1, 800 participants(candidates, experts, delegates, officials and observers) from 34 countries in 40 trade areas. A separate contest area was assembled for each discipline. Inside the contest area, one workstation will be set up for each candidate.
