Scientists at the University of Colorado, Boulder, had developed a first and fully re-healable and recyclable electronic material. This novel technology functions like properties of human skin, capable of measuring pressure, temperature and vibration. Technically, it's a self-healing robot[, ] for instance if robots are wrapped in an electronic material that mimics... human skin[, ] theoretically it can also sense objects that are too hot or too cold or if more or less pressure needs to be exerted on an object. If this material is beyond repair, then it can be soaked in a solution that separates out the silver nanoparticles then be fully recycled into new usable material...

The Vision Skin sensor is designed to do accurate range sensing and close range imaging in approximately the 1 cm distance range. It utilizes an array of collimated holes as individual parallel pin-hole cameras to perform close range lens-less imaging. When a laser diode is added to the system, triangulation is used to determine the distance of the surface. The sensor can switch between imaging mode and range mode simply with software and lighting mode.

OBS

... Vision Skin provides images and data of objects very close to the sensor surface. It is analogous to heat sensors in the finger tips(which can sense heat when near a hot object without touching it) and the compound eye of an insect(which forms crude images of an object comprised of pixels array in the eye)...

... lighting [that depends] on the position of the viewer as well as the direction of light and orientation of the triangle being rendered.

CONT

Shining a spotlight into a dark corner of a room onto a TV set and looking at the hot spots on the picture tube will show you specular lighting. Specular lighting captures the mirror-like properties of an object so effects such as reflection and glare are achievable.

DEF

DEF

An instrument that determines the blackbody temperature of a substance by measuring its thermal radiation.

CONT

For many years radiation thermometers have been used to make non-contact temperature measurements of hot objects, particularly in industrial situations such as reformer furnaces, steel reheat furnaces, and ceramics kilns.... Radiation thermometers work by detecting the radiant energy, typically over a restricted range of wavelengths, emitted by the object of interest and using Planck's radiation law to relate this energy to temperature.

CONT

A radiation thermometer is unable to distinguish between the radiation emitted by an object (the component that is related to the objects temperature) and radiation reflected by the object that originates from neighbouring objects.

OBS

Unlike other forms of thermometry, radiation thermometry is a non-contact technique and can be used to measure the temperature of remote or moving targets.

"Pad printing" is a new method of printing by transferring photoengraved images from a die to the printing object. Since the transfer is made by using an extremely flexible printing pad, it overcomes such problems as sink marks, concave areas, regular and uneven surfaces. It produces better results than other known printing methods such as screen printing, spray printing, hot stamping, labelling, etc.

CONT

Clever decorating can make a relatively simple bottle design stand out. All major decorating processes can be used on blow-molded bottles and parts. These include: ... -Pad printing, used for recessed areas not easily silk screened or hot stamped.
