Scientists at the University of Colorado, Boulder, had developed a first and fully re-healable and recyclable electronic material. This novel technology functions like properties of human skin, capable of measuring pressure, temperature and vibration. Technically, it's a self-healing robot[, ] for instance if robots are wrapped in an electronic material that mimics... human skin[, ] theoretically it can also sense objects that are too hot or too cold or if more or less pressure needs to be exerted on an object. If this material is beyond repair, then it can be soaked in a solution that separates out the silver nanoparticles then be fully recycled into new usable material... 1, record 1, English, - self%2Dhealing%20robot

The SIHS [Soldier's Integrated Headwear System] headborne system should be designed with warfighting in mind; predominantly for high tempo operations... The highest priority system capability for the headborne system is protection. Chief among these is protection against high and low velocity fragments [and] blast... Similarly, blast and impulse noise injury to the ears has been identified as important from both a protection and a command and control perspective. The future headborne system also needs to integrate CB [chemical and biological] protection for skin and respiration [and needs to include GPS [global positioning system] and radio antennae on the helmet, as well as any combat [identification] detector technology. For camouflage,... temperate and hot environments [are] important and... any future system [needs] to manage light, noise and thermal emissions to avoid detection by the enemy.... Compatibility with weapons, CB protective equipment, and corrective vision spectacles were seen to be essential for the dismounted rifleman role. 3, record 5, English, - headborne%20system

Extruded polystyrene [XEPS] foam begins with solid polystyrene crystals. The crystals, along with special additives and a blowing agent, are fed into an extruder. Within the extruder the mixture is combined and melted, under controlled conditions of high temperature and pressure, into a viscous plastic fluid. The hot, thick liquid is then forced in a continuous process through a die. As it emerges from the die it expands to a foam, is shaped, cooled, and trimmed to dimension. This continuous extrusion process results in a unique foam product with a uniform closed-cell structure, a smooth continuous skin, and consistent product qualities, qualities unequaled by other insulation types. 6, record 13, English, - extruded%20polystyrene%20foam

Extruded polystyrene foam ... There is considerable confusion about extruded foam, mainly because it is made by many different companies, and appears in many different colors and densities. There is "artboard", green foam, pink foam, gray foam, blue foam and more. All of these are extruded polystyrene. The lowest density extruded styrene foams all range about 1.75 pounds per cubic foot. Curiously, extruded foam panels from the same manufacturer exhibit considerable variation in density ... ranging from 1.8 to 2.1 pounds per cubic foot, all in the same batch. ... Different manufacturers also produce different qualities of extruded foam. Some foam seems to have more impurities and air bubbles than others. 7, record 13, English, - extruded%20polystyrene%20foam

1, record 13, French, - mousse%20de%20polystyr%C3%A8ne%20extrud%C3%A9e

It is possible to produce uniforms with such protection specifically for wear in high temperature regions, but by their very nature protective suits are hot and uncomfortable for prolonged periods of wear due to the absorbent layers of activated charcoal granules or fibres that they incorporate. These granules and fibres act as a barrier to the escape of body heat which could, in extremes, lead to physical collapse due to heat exhaustion. This has given rise to proposals for liquid cooling or body temperature stabilization units supplying webs of cooling pipes worn close to the skin. 1, record 14, English, - body%20temperature%20stabilization%20unit

2, record 14, French, - unit%C3%A9%20de%20stabilisation%20de%20la%20temp%C3%A9rature%20interne

The Vision Skin sensor is designed to do accurate range sensing and close range imaging in approximately the 1 cm distance range. It utilizes an array of collimated holes as individual parallel pin-hole cameras to perform close range lens-less imaging. When a laser diode is added to the system, triangulation is used to determine the distance of the surface. The sensor can switch between imaging mode and range mode simply with software and lighting control. 2, record 15, English, - Vision%20Skin%20sensor

... Vision Skin provides images and data of objects very close to the sensor surface. It is analogous to heat sensors in the finger tips(which can sense heat when near a hot object without touching it) and the compound eye of an insect(which forms crude images of an object comprised of pixels array in the eye)... 3, record 15, English, - Vision%20Skin%20sensor
