Exemptions based on an injury test provide for the denial of access to requested information if disclosure "could reasonably be expected to be injurious" to the interest specified in the exemption. "Injury" in this context means having a detrimental effect. The fact that the disclosure could result in an administrative change in a government institution is not sufficient to satisfy an injury test. It must be possible to identify an actual detrimental effect on the interest specified in the exemption. 2, record 1, English, - injury%20test

A cancer slope factor gives the percent increase in the risk of getting cancer associated with a dose of a toxin(in mg [milligram] of toxin per kg [kilogram] of body weight) every day for a lifetime.... A risk assessor will apply cancer slope factors and unit risks to test results to calculate how many more cancer cases a population might be likely to see if that population had a lifetime of exposure to that amount of a toxin.... Cancer slope factors and unit risks are usually based on tests on laboratory animals. The Amsler grid is a chart that is specifically designed to qualitatively analyze the disturbances of visual function that accompany the beginning and evolution of maculopathies. The charts are a series of lined and patterned grids that test the central visual field within 10 degrees of fixation where the plates are held at 1/3 of a meter from the eyes. Each square of the grid subtends [one] degree of visual angle, making the ability to define the location of small defects rather easy.... The Amsler grid test is quick and easy to administer. The patient is instructed to look at the central dot and asked if, in fact, he/she can see it. If not, the patient may have a central scotoma, and the examiner must query the patient regarding exactly what he/she "does" see. If the patient sees the dot, the examiner asks if the patient is aware that surrounding it are numerous squares. The examiner then asks the patient if any of the squares are distorted, missing, etc. 3, record 4, English, - Amsler%20grid%20test

Acoustic reflex decay measures the ability of the stapedius muscle to maintain sustained contraction. During this test, a signal is presented 10 dB [decibels] above the acoustic reflex threshold for 10 s [seconds]. A response is considered abnormal if the response amplitude decreases to one half or less of its original amplitude within 5 s. Because reflex decay is common in many normal ears at higher test frequencies, frequencies of 500 Hz [hertz] and 1000 Hz are most often used in acoustic reflex decay tests. 3, record 14, English, - acoustic%20reflex%20decay%20test

This test places a tug on the nerve roots; with root sleeve fibrosis, foraminal osteophytes, or adhesions, radicular pain or paresthesias often result. 2, record 38, English, - shoulder%20depression%20test

Losee's test... is similar to the jerk test, in that the limb is moved from flexion to extension. If the left knee is being tested, the examiner stands to the left of the patient, grasps the foot with his left hand, flexes the knee to about 40° and uses his abdomen as a fulcrum to apply a valgus stress to the knee. With his right hand he increases the valgus pressure, placing the fingers on the patella and the thumb behind the fibular head..., while simultaneously pulling the upper tibia forward. On subsequent extension, during which the lower leg may rotate inward, a lateral snapping will occur between the femur and tibia at about 20° if there is an anterior cruciate insufficiency with anterolateral rotatory instability... 1, record 51, English, - Losee%26rsquo%3Bs%20test

A test to distinguish between gastrocnemius and soleus muscle tightness which result in the limitation of dorsal and plantar flexion of the foot when the knee is extended. With the patient sitting on the edge of the examining table, the knee joint is flexed. If ankle dorsiflexion is possible when the knee is flexed, the gastrocnemius muscle is the cause of the limitation, since flexion of the knee slackens the gastrocnemius(a two-joint muscle) by bringing its origin closer to its insertion. Since the soleus is a one-joint muscle, it is not affected by flexion of the knee; if the soleus is responsible for the limited motion, the limitation will be the same whether or not the knee is flexed. 2, record 53, English, - ankle%20dorsiflexion%20test

Passing score. If it is appropriate for the context of the test, there will be a passing score. There are no convincing arguments for any one cutoff score; rather, the content, context, and type of student will determine the passing level. It will also depend on your intentions for the test. A mastery test will require a very high pass mark, while an ordinary quiz or classroom test is likely to be less stringent. The most commonly employed technique for determining causation-in-fact is the "but for" test, sometimes called the sine qua non test. It works like this :if the accident would not have occurred but for the defendant's negligence, then his conduct is a cause of the injury. Put another way, if the accident would have occurred just the same, whether or not the defendant acted, then his conduct is not a cause of the loss. Thus the act of the defendant must have made a difference. If his conduct had nothing to do with the loss, he escapes liability. 3, record 68, English, - but%20for%20test

Magnetic particle testing is used for detecting surface and subsurface flaws in ferromagnetic materials... The test is generally conducted by magnetizing the part to be inspected... If finely divided ferromagnetic particles are applied in the vicinity of the crack, the particles will be attracted by the magnetic flux between the two poles. Many crude vegetable oils contain large amounts of phosphatides or "break" material. This material is very similar to the parent triglyceride except that one of the fatty acid chains has been replaced by a compound of phosphorus. The phosphatides precipitate as a gelatinous mass when the oil is heated to 260°C to 300°C.... In such a test, the oil is carefully heated in a test tube; if any break is present, the oil clouds at about 260°C and within 5° to 25°C the break will have separated. Also, at the temperature of incipient break, the oil will bleach, the extent of heat-bleach(as well as the amount of break) giving a good indication as to the quality of the oil. 2, record 77, English, - heat%20test

Dans sa procédure comme dans son principe, le test de Bechdel est d’une simplicité biblique. Prenez n’importe quel film, et soumettez-le à trois questions. Formerly, if there was a scintilla of evidence to support the issues, the judge was bound to leave it to the jury; but now, in every case, it is for the judge to decide whether there is any evidence from which the jury can reasonably find for the party on whom the burden of proof rests. It there is no evidence or a mere scintilla, it is his duty to withdraw the case from the jury and enter judgment for the opposite party. And the test whether evidence only amounts to a scintilla is to assume it uncontradicted, and then inquire whether the jury would be justified in founding a verdict thereon.(Phipson, 13th ed., 1982, p. 765) 1, record 87, English, - scintilla%20of%20evidence

Scintilla of evidence has been defined as "any material evidence that if true would trend to establish the issue in the mind of a reasonable juror." Other views are that a scintilla of evidence is no evidence or but a spark, gleam, or mere conjecture as distinguished from a reasonable inference. The expression "mere scintilla" of evidence means the least particle of evidence - evidence which, without further evidence, is a mere trifle. "More than a scintilla" may be defined as evidence of probative value having the fitness to induce conviction in the minds of reasonable men. Segmental pressure analysis is essentially a blood pressure measurement taken at various different locations along the leg. This type of test is usually performed if there is claudication in the leg since this symptom is usually indicative of arterial narrowing. Segmental pressure analysis permits an in-depth analysis of wave form variation in order to determine the level of arterial obstruction. Reactive hyperemia or treadmill studies then show the extent of obstruction by indicating the time required for blood flow to resume to normal after cuff removal. 2, record 89, English, - Doppler%20segmental%20pressure%20measurement

The Bartels PRIMA SystemTM Cytomegalovirus IgM Enzyme Immunoassay is a rapid, qualitative method for the detection of IgM Antibody to cytomegalovirus in human serum. Patient serum is diluted with specimen diluent that contains an absorbent to remove IgG. The absorbent prevents IgG/rheumatoid factor complexes from forming and prevents interfering competition from IgG during the test procedure. The treated serum is incubated with purified CMV antigens bound to EIA plate wells. If antibodies to CMV are present, they bind to the antigen and do not rinse off. Subsequently, when enzyme labeled anti-human IgM is added to the reaction site, it binds to the immobilized antibodies. After washing and the addition of a chromogenic substrate and stop solution, specimens containing antibodies to CMV produce a color endpoint reaction which is measured and compared to negative and positive controls, and may be measured spectrophotometrically. 1, record 92, English, - chromogenic%20substrate

The rabies antibody test is indicated for individuals who because of high risk exposure to possibly rabid animals have been previously immunized against the virus. This population typically includes veterinarians, animal control officers, laboratory personnel and other workers who come in frequent contact with potentially rabid animals. The result of this test will determine if an individual has had a successful sero-conversion after immunization. 1, record 97, English, - rabies%20antibody%20test

Well test flaring occurs during drilling and testing of all oil and gas wells. This is a standard practice used to determine the types of fluids the well can produce, the pressure and flow rates of fluids and other characteristics of the underground reservoir. If there are pipelines nearby, operators may be able to direct the test gas to a processing plant and this process is called "in-line testing. "This is not a practice that is feasible for some exploratory wells as there may not be any pipelines and processing plants nearby. The pressure, flow and composition of the gas has to be determined before it can be safely handled by the pipelines and processing plants. This information determines the economic value of the well and what type of production facilities will be installed. … Some well test flaring may be necessary after certain well servicing operations. The average flaring duration is 2. 5 days. 1, record 98, English, - well%20test%20flaring

The squat test is... a simple but sensitive test in identifying pathology of the meniscus. The examiner asks the patient to perform full squats with their legs neutral, internally rotated, and externally rotated. The patients usually have pain with deep squat when a meniscal tear is present. If there is more pain with the leg externally rotated, then the medial meniscus is most likely injured and vice versa. 1, record 100, English, - squat%20test
