"Michael Lauber was appointed the first Canadian Banking Ombudsman(CBO) when Canada's major chartered banks established the organization in May 1996. On October 2002 he took on an expanded Ombudsman mandate when the CBO merged with the dispute resolution services of the Investment Dealers Association of Canada(IDA) the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada(MFDA) and the Investment Funds Institute of Canada(IFIC).
