Selective IgA deficiency is the most common immuno-deficiency disorder, with a prevalence in the normal population of about 1 : 600. The IgA level is less than 5 mg %, while the level of other immunoglobulins(IgG, IgM) is normal. Most persons with selective IgA deficiency are asymptomatic. However, a variety of disorders are associated with this particular immunodeficiency : respiratory infections, autoimmune diseases; allergy.... 1, record 1, English, - selective%20IgA%20deficiency

Le déficit en IgA est fréquent, touchant environ un individu sur 700 dans la population générale. Très souvent asymptomatique et de découverte fortuite, le déficit en IgA peut cependant être responsable d'infections ORL, bronchiques ou digestives. [...] Des manifestations allergiques sont parfois observées [...] On note également une fréquence anormale de manifestations auto-immunes [...] 1, record 1, French, - d%C3%A9ficit%20en%20IgA

A 70 000 dalton glycopeptide occurring in secretory IgA; synthesized not by the plasma cell producing the IgA but added while the IgA is crossing the epithelium; it may protect secretory IgA from proteolytic attack after secretion, or it may play some role in the process of secretion. Secretory component deficiency has been seen in a few patients; there is complete lack of IgA in external secretions although serum IgA is normal. 2, record 2, English, - secretory%20component

It is evident that a number of factors must contribute to allergy and this has led to the hypothesis of allergic breakthrough, where clinical symptoms of allergy are only seen when an arbitrary level of immunological activity(allergic breakthrough) is exceeded. This will depend on a number of conditions, including exposure to allergen, genetic predisposition, the tendency to make IgE, and other factors, such as the presence of upper respiratory tract viral infections, decreased suppressor activity or transient IgA deficiency. 1, record 3, English, - allergic%20breakthrough

1, record 4, French, - syndrome%20d%27immotilit%C3%A9%20ciliaire
