IGNITION NOISE [6 records]

Record 1 2015-03-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Blasting Work (Mining)
  • Explosives and Pyrotechnical Materials (Industries)
  • Blasting (Construction)
DEF

The process of causing a high explosive to detonate.

CONT

The initiation of an explosive charge requires an initiating point, which is usually a primer and electric detonator, or a primer and a detonating cord or fuse.

CONT

Class I [of dangerous goods] comprises :...(b) Explosive articles, except devices containing explosive substances in such quantity or of such a character that their inadvertent or accidental ignition or initiation during transport shall not cause any manifestation external to the device either by projection, fire, smoke, heat or loud noise.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Travail aux explosifs (Exploitation minière)
  • Explosifs et artifices (Industries)
  • Dynamitage (Construction)
DEF

Record 2 2010-01-26

English

Subject field(s)
  • Noise Pollution
CONT

Class I [of dangerous foods] comprises :...(b) Explosive articles, except devices containing explosive substances in such quantity or of such a character that their inadvertent or accidental ignition or initiation during transport shall not cause any manifestation external to the device either by projection, fire, smoke, heat or loud noise.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Pollution par le bruit
CONT

La classe I comprend [...]

Record 3 2000-05-25

English

Subject field(s)
  • Burners and Steamfitting
DEF

Electrical noise, caused by ignition current feeding through the flame to the flame rod, which is superimposed on the flame signal(flame rod detectors only). The interference may be additive or subtractive.(It may increase or decrease the flame signal.) Subtractive interference may cause the flame relay to drop out; severe additive interference may damage the flame relay unless an arc gap protector is in the circuit.

Domaine(s)
  • Fumisterie et brûleurs

Record 4 2000-04-28

English

Subject field(s)
  • Burners and Steamfitting
DEF

Lifting flames: flames which lift from or blow off the pilot or main burner ports. Caused by an overrating of the burner, too hard a primary air adjustment, or both.

CONT

lifting flame. When too much primary air is admitted to the burner, the flame will actually lift off the burner ports. This flame is undesirable for many reasons. When the flame is raised from the ports, there is a possibility that intermediate products of combustion will escape to the atmosphere. The flame will be small and will be accompanied by a blowing noise, much like that made by a blow torch. There will be rough ignition and, if enough secondary air is available, ignition may be impossible.

Subject field(s)
  • Fires and Explosions
  • Combustion and Fuels (Fireplaces)
  • Explosives and Pyrotechnical Materials (Industries)
CONT

Class 1 [of dangerous goods] comprises :...(b) Explosive articles, except devices containing explosive substances in such quantity or of such a character that their inadvertent or accidental ignition or initiation during transport shall not cause any manifestation external to the device either by projection, fire, smoke, heat or loud noise;

French

Domaine(s)
  • Feux et explosions
  • Combustion et combustibles (Foyers)
  • Explosifs et artifices (Industries)
DEF
