Publication Date-1996-07-10. This Policy Statement brings to a close a process of public consultation on specific policies related to broadcasting and telecommunications put forward in October 1994, in Order in Council P. C. 1994-1689. The policies addressed three broad areas : interconnection and interoperability of network facilities, continued support for Canadian content, and competition in facilities, products and services. The Order in Council requested the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission(CRTC) to hold public consultations and report on issues related to the implementation of these policies. Le présent énoncé de politique intervient au terme d'un processus de consultation publique au sujet de certaines politiques ayant trait à la radiodiffusion et aux télécommunications et présentées dans le décret en conseil C.P. 1994 - 1689. Ces politiques touchaient trois domaines : l'interconnexion et l'interfonctionnalité des installations de réseaux, la poursuite du soutien du contenu canadien et la concurrence dans la prestation des installations, produits et services. Le décret en Conseil a demandé au Conseil de la radiodiffusion et des télécommunications canadiennes (CRTC) d'entreprendre un examen public et de présenter un rapport sur certaines questions ayant trait à la mise en œuvre de ces politiques.
