The Enviromental Health Association of Nova Scotia(EHANS) is a non-profit, community based organization founded in 1985 and run by volunteers. Formerly known as the Nova Scotia Allergy and Environmental Health Association, EHANS operates throughout Nova Scotia. Through internet resources, EHANS serves a broad constituency across Canada, the US and beyond. EHANS provides information and support to people already ill from environmental causes. The Pride of Israel Sick Benefit Society was founded in 1905 [...] in downtown Toronto by a group of caring Jews to aid their fellows. If a person was ill, the society would provide a doctor and send the patient money to tide them over until they recovered. [...] [Their] roots provide a foundation built upon chesed, kindness and caring, the spirit of which is very much alive and well today in the organization. The Pride of Israel pioneered the Kosher Food Bank in Toronto, and has diverse programming during the year. The Association was founded in 1943 to unite and represent the now 1500 firms that provide equipment to the construction, forestry, mining, marine, and oil-and-gas industries in Canada and around the world. On January 22, 2010, Associated Equipment Distributors(AED) and the Canadian Association of Equipment Distributors(CAED) formally announced that the two associations have agreed to integrate their operations under AED management. Under the arrangement, all administrative functions as well as management of Canadian-focused events and membership services will be centered at AED's Oak Brook, Ill., headquarters.
