Designer drugs are synthetic psychoactive substances chemically engineered to mimic the effects of traditional illegal drugs, such as cocaine, cannabis, or MDMA [3, 4-methylenedioxymetamphetamine].... The creation of designer drugs involves maintaining a slightly different chemical structure from scheduled substances. This difference in molecular composition is intended to exploit loopholes in drug control laws, allowing the substances to be marketed as "legal highs. " 2, record 2, English, - designer%20drug
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Designer drugs constitute a subset of synthetic drugs: they are produced through the intentional modification of the chemical structure of a controlled substance in order to reproduce its effects while circumventing existing legal frameworks; however, not all synthetic drugs meet the criteria that define a designer drug. 3, record 2, English, - designer%20drug

2, record 2, Spanish, - droga%20de%20dise%C3%B1o

Over-the-horizon(OTH) radar systems were first developed during the Cold War as part of the early warning defense network. With the end of the Cold War, research into OTH radar continued, with a new focus : detection of illegal aircraft engaged in drug smuggling. Current research had its genesis in U. S. Air Force and Navy laboratories in the 1960s, as well as at Stanford University. At present, the United States, Russia, China, and Australia employ OTH radar for surveillance purposes. Much of the current effort is concentrated on the development of relocatable OTH radar(ROTHR), first demonstrated by the Navy in the early 1980s. 2, record 27, English, - over%2Dthe%2Dhorizon

Large quantities of drugs enter our country by boat each year. Drug smuggling is big business, often involving many people and a lot of money and equipment. Fortunately, such large-scale operations can be readily detected by those familiar with normal marine activity. The RCMP's Coastal Watch Program, in the fight against drug importation, wants to enlist the eyes of people in coastal communities. The program goal is two-fold : To teach people what to look for, and to help them effectively transmit any information to the appropriate law enforcement agency. If you are a recreational or professional boater, fuel dock attendant, or vessel broker, or if you live or work near the water, you can play a vital role in the Coastal Watch Program. By reporting suspicious or illegal activities, you can help cut the flow of illicit drugs to our youth and to the rest of the community. 1, record 30, English, - Coastal%20Watch%20Program

1, record 30, French, - Programme%20de%20surveillance%20c%C3%B4ti%C3%A8re
