Research is on hairpin catalytic RNA, a catalytic RNA discovered and characterized here in my laboratory at Northern Illinois University. Hairpin catalytic RNA is a molecule which can be engineered to very efficiently cleave target RNA sequences in a unique and efficient reaction. The catalytic RNA can thus be used for the specific down regulation of gene expression since it can be designed to destroy mRNA. Current applications being developed are down regulation of selected genes, including those in the virus HIV-1. Thus it has potential as an AIDS therapeutic. 1, record 21, English, - catalytic%20RNA

5, record 35, Spanish, - crecida%20repentina

Marking is accomplished mechanically by vibrations of the marking tool -120 reciprocal strokes per second- consumes less current than a 60 watt light bulb. The use of the Vibro-Tool ranges from engraving simple identification numbers and chemical nomenclature on bottles or slides to engraving special calibration markings on equipment and experimental dials, gauges and measures. 1, record 41, French, - score%20de%20Knodell

Most Silurian cephalopods had straight shells, called orthocones which were separated inside by walls which formed chambers within the shell. They were free-swimming, carrying their shells in a horizontal position. They moved at great speeds by taking in water and squirting it out, jet-propelling themselves along. Orthoceras was a Silurian orthocone cephalopod which was probably the ancestor to all other cephalopods. 5, record 44, English, - orthocone%20cephalopod

The term May Day can refer to any of several traditional secular, Christian, or pagan holidays celebrated either on 1 May itself or another day at the beginning of May and having as a common element the commemoration of the height of spring or the coming of summer. May Day is now more commonly celebrated as a commemoration of the Haymarket Riot of 1886 in Chicago, Illinois, United States which occurred on May 4th but was the culmination of labor unrest which began on May 1. The date consequently became established as an anarchist and socialist holiday during the 20th century, and in these circles it is often known as International Workers’ Day or Labour Day. In this form, May Day has become an International celebration of the social and economic achievements of the working class and labor movement. 1, record 46, English, - May%20Day

Trucking has always been the mode of choice for shipping refrigerated product. But with recent developments in technology, the railways are becoming more confident they can measure up as a viable service alternative... A few weeks ago, US-based Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway(BNSF), ran its first all-refrigerated train from Illinois to California. It carried frozen product at a constant temperature for the entire 69-hour trip. There were no re-fuelling stops and so far, no cases of food spoilage... When you put a trailer on a train, there's nobody really looking after it, so if loads go bad or(the units) run out of fuel they don’t notice until it's too late. The difference with the BNSF service is the whole train is refrigerated and therefore gets constant attention. 1, record 69, English, - refrigerated%20train

Last week the National Science Foundation announced that he would be taking charge of one of the new supercomputer centers it is establishing at four U. S. universities. The selected schools-Princeton, Cornell, the University of California at San Diego(UCSD) and the University of Illinois at Urbana/Champaign-were immediately dubbed the "supercomputer U's. "Their new machines, acquired through a $200 million NSF grant, will be the core of a network connecting some 30 other schools. 1, record 100, English, - supercomputer%20U%26rsquo%3Bs
