[Endolaser] is a critical component of vitreoretinal surgery. Endolaser coagulation is a method by which the laser light is brought directly inside the eye through a fiber optic cable connected to the laser delivery console for treatment to the retina. When the surgeons is performing an intraocular surgery and a need for coagulation exists, the laser light is directed toward the desired area through a probe and photocoagulation is performed.... Endolaser probes are available in several forms such as—straight/curved, blunt/tapered, simple/aspirating, and even illuminating. The most commonly used is the straight probe with a blunt or tapered tip. The curved tip helps in accessing the anterior-superior retina or peripheral retina near the surgeon's dominant hand with ease. 3, record 1, English, - endolaser%20probe

1, record 2, French, - vitrectomie%20%C3%A0%20trois%20voies

Adaptive headlights are an active safety feature designed to make driving at night or in low-light conditions safer by increasing visibility around curves and over hills. When driving around a bend in the road, standard headlights continue to shine straight ahead, illuminating the side of the road and leaving the road ahead of you in the dark. Adaptive headlights, on the other hand, turn their beams according to your steering input so that the vehicle's actual path is lit up. 2, record 15, English, - adaptive%20headlight

A confocal laser scanning microscope is a light microscope having a dramatically higher axial resolution than a conventional microscope. In other words, a confocal microscope is capable of optical sectioning. This is accomplished by illuminating the specimen one point at a time with a focused laser beam and using an optical arrangement, where only the light originating from the focus can be detected. The image is formed by scanning the laser beam over the specimen and recording the image into computer memory. A three-dimensional view of the specimen can be reconstructed from a stack of such images taken at successive focal planes. 2, record 28, English, - axial%20resolution

Quotient of the luminous flux incident on an infinitesimal element of a surface containing the point under consideration, by the area of that element. 3, record 39, English, - illuminance
Record number: 39, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Illuminance(usually ’E’ in formulas) is the total amount of visible light illuminating(incident upon) a point on a surface from all directions above the surface. This "surface" can be a physical surface or an imaginary plane. Therefore illuminance is equivalent to irradiance weighted with the response curve of the human eye. 4, record 39, English, - illuminance
Record number: 39, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Standard unit for illuminance is Lux (lx) which is lumens per square meter (lm/m²). There are several older units of illuminance: footcandle: 1 fc = 10.764 lx; phot: 1 ph = 10 000 lx. Typical illuminance values are: 1 lx = full moon; 10 lx = street lighting; 100-1 000 lx = workspace lighting; 10 000 lx = surgery lighting; 100 000 lx = plain sunshine. 4, record 39, English, - illuminance

The aspect angle ... can have a significant influence on the appearance of radar imagery, especially when features in the scene have an organized linear structure, such as agricultural crops or geological structures. When a radar’s illumination is oriented perpendicular to geologic features such as faults, lineaments and outcrops, [there is] increased contrast and shadowing of the features in the image results. This is a favourable aspect angle for the image interpreter, as terrain is enhanced. In agricultural applications, fields imaged from different aspect angles may result in different tones on the image because of row or planting direction. 3, record 51, French, - microscope%20confocal%20%C3%A0%20balayage%20laser

Why is the sky blue?... Scattering, simply defined, is when light hitting a volume of air is reflected out of the air, as opposed to being absorbed or just passing through. The light bounces off of individual air particles in random directions, scattering, and making that air appear the color of the light being scattered. Preferential light scattering means that some colors of light scatter better, while other colors tend only to pass through. Lord Rayleigh, a 19th century British physicist, first explained preferential light scattering.(Sir Isaac Newton first established the phenomenon's existence.) Common air particle diameters are 1 micron(micrometer),. 1 micron, and. 01 micron.... "Rayleigh's Law indicates that the light energy scattered per unit volume of air containing particles smaller than. 1 micron is inversely proportional to the 4th power of the wavelength of the illuminating radiation(Schaeffer 155) "... More simply stated, the amount of light that bounces around in our air increases as the wavelength(which is related to color) of the light decreases. 2, record 58, English, - Rayleigh%20Law

One illuminating example of the influence of product technology on winter sports is the development of skiing equipment in the past twenty years. Skis are surprisingly intricate and specialized instruments. Until the early 1970s they were commonly made of wood. But manufacturers came to realize that fiberglass skis with plastic soles move much faster over snow than wooden skis do, largely because of the water-repellent qualities of plastic. 1, record 65, English, - skiing%20equipment

A good way of illuminating a flower bed is with the simple mushroom type of luminaire. This type of fixture, while low, provides light from above the plants--the natural direction--and it is usually tall enough to remain above all but the most vigorous growth. The light is widely spread around the luminaire, thus enabling the use of fewer units. Although closer spacing will provide a smoother light, satisfactorily even lighting may be obtained by setting the luminaire spacing up to 10 times the distance each luminaire stands above the plants. 1, record 67, English, - mushroom%20type%20of%20luminaire
