[Endolaser] is a critical component of vitreoretinal surgery. Endolaser coagulation is a method by which the laser light is brought directly inside the eye through a fiber optic cable connected to the laser delivery console for treatment to the retina. When the surgeons is performing an intraocular surgery and a need for coagulation exists, the laser light is directed toward the desired area through a probe and photocoagulation is performed.... Endolaser probes are available in several forms such as—straight/curved, blunt/tapered, simple/aspirating, and even illuminating. The most commonly used is the straight probe with a blunt or tapered tip. The curved tip helps in accessing the anterior-superior retina or peripheral retina near the surgeon's dominant hand with ease.

En 1972, une lumière froide fut associée au vitréotome. La même année, O'Malley sépara les différentes fonctions en introduisant l'infusion isolée, avec une endo-illumination par une autre voie apportant un éclairage de bonne qualité. Ce fut la naissance de la vitrectomie à trois voies.

A confocal laser scanning microscope is a light microscope having a dramatically higher axial resolution than a conventional microscope. In other words, a confocal microscope is capable of optical sectioning. This is accomplished by illuminating the specimen one point at a time with a focused laser beam and using an optical arrangement, where only the light originating from the focus can be detected. The image is formed by scanning the laser beam over the specimen and recording the image into computer memory. A three-dimensional view of the specimen can be reconstructed from a stack of such images taken at successive focal planes.

Comme l'ordinateur déplace la platine dans la direction de l'axe optique Z avec des mouvements micrométriques prédéfinis après chaque balayage, le MCBL ne peut pas recueillir les images provenant d'autres plans. A good way of illuminating a flower bed is with the simple mushroom type of luminaire. This type of fixture, while low, provides light from above the plants--the natural direction--and it is usually tall enough to remain above all but the most vigorous growth. The light is widely spread around the luminaire, thus enabling the use of fewer units. Although closer spacing will provide a smoother light, satisfactorily even lighting may be obtained by setting the luminaire spacing up to 10 times the distance each luminaire stands above the plants.
