Wide-angle viewing systems are used for many intraocular procedures and for effective inspection of the peripheral retina. They can be used with phakic, aphakic and pseudophakic eyes as well as under various viewing conditions in eyes filled with gas, fluid, or silicone oil. They offer a broad view of the patient's pathology while providing good depth perception. Both contact and noncontact systems are available.... Proper case selection and use of illumination and magnification are adjunctive maneuvers that aid in viewing with these systems and are as vital to obtaining an ideal surgical view as the specific wide-angle viewing system that is selected. 3, record 1, English, - wide%2Dangle%20viewing%20system

Microincision vitrectomy surgery(MIVS) is one of the most significant innovations in vitreous surgery since the modern vitrectomy was developed... in the early 1970s. MIVS is defined as a combination of 25-or 23-gauge instrumentation and a transconjunctival sutureless procedure. The indication of MIVS was limited in macular surgery for several years after its introduction because of several disadvantages, including flexible instruments, lower aspiration rate, and dim illumination. The stiffness of instruments, cutting rates, and aspiration rates have been improved and the introduction of brighter light sources, such as xenon lamps, has improved illumination. As a result of these improvements, the indications for MIVS have expanded to include complicated cases with proliferative diabetic retinopathy. 6, record 3, English, - microincision%20vitrectomy%20surgery

1, record 3, French, - vitrectomie%20mini%2Dinvasive

Genesis of the scanning laser ophthalmoscope.... In the scanning device, the illumination is incident on a small spot of the fundus for a short time period, the illumination beam is displaced to the adjacent small spot, and this continues until the field of view of the fundus is covered. Simultaneously, with the spot of illumination, the scattered light is detected; the accumulation of all of the light from all of the illuminated spots forms the image of the fundus as seen on the display of the scanning laser ophthalmoscope. 7, record 6, English, - scanning%20laser%20ophthalmoscope

Light boxes are often constructed with simplicity in mind. They usually feature a compact, enclosed space with translucent sides that diffuse the light produced by built-in LEDs [light-emitting diodes] or external light sources.... The notable benefit of using a light box is the even illumination it provides. The soft light distributed across the subject minimizes shadows and highlights, allowing for true-to-life colour representation and detail visibility. This consistency is especially advantageous for photographing small, intricate items like jewelry, electronics, or food, where clarity and detail are vital. 2, record 15, English, - light%20box

First, the objects in the video have different postures resulting in frequent occlusion, and their motion is irregular. Second, conditions such as the field depth, the resolution, the weather, the illumination, and the diversity of the scene must be considered. Well-defined, wave-like structures in the underside of the cloud; more chaotic and with less horizontal organization than the variety undulatus. Asperitas is characterized by localized waves in the cloud base, either smooth or dappled with smaller features, sometimes descending into sharp points, as if viewing a roughened sea surface from below. Varying levels of illumination and thickness of the cloud can lead to dramatic visual effects. Occurs mostly with Stratocumulus and Altocumulus. 1, record 48, English, - Asperitas

Brightfield microscopy is the most elementary form of microscope illumination techniques... The name "brightfield" is derived from the fact that the specimen is dark and contrasted by the surrounding bright viewing field.... In brightfield microscopy a specimen is placed on the stage of the microscope and incandescent light from the microscope's light source is aimed at a lens beneath the specimen.... light passes through the specimen and then is collected by an objective lens situated in a turret above the stage.... This technique can be used to view fixed specimens or live cells. Since many organic specimens are transparent or opaque, staining is required to cause the contrast that allows them to be visible under the microscope. 2, record 69, English, - bright%2Dfield%20optical%20microscopy

1, record 69, French, - microscopie%20optique%20en%20champ%20clair
