2, record 4, French, - radar%20imageur%20%C3%A0%20synth%C3%A8se%20d%27ouverture

Antenna pattern correction. The brightness of the image is affected by the antenna gain variation where the near range will receive maximum power while the far range will receive minimum power. This effect produces an image that varies in intensity (tone) along the range direction across the image. The antenna pattern effect is expressed as the energy returned to the radar and decreases dramatically as the range distance increases. Antenna pattern correction is applied to produce a uniform average brightness across the imaged swath. 3, record 6, English, - antenna%20pattern%20correction

The angle defined by the incident radar beam and the vertical (normal) to the intercepting surface. 3, record 7, English, - incidence%20angle
Record number: 7, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The incidence angle is commonly used to describe the angular relationship between the radar beam and the ground, surface layer or a target. A change of the radar illumination angle often affects the radar backscattering behaviour of a surface or target. The incidence angle changes across the radar image swath; it increases from near range to far range. In the case of satellite radar imagery, the change of incidence angle for flat terrain across the imaging swath tends to be rather small, usually on the order of several degrees. In the case of an inclined surface(slope), the local incidence angle is defined as the angle between the incident radar beam and a line that is normal to that surface. The local incidence angle determining, in part, the brightness, or image tone, for each picture element(pixel) and slope facet, is a key element in the prominent rendition of terrain features in radar imagery. 3, record 7, English, - incidence%20angle

The topographic effect is indicated on Landsat images of rugged terrain by the visual impression of relief. It is caused by the variation in spectral radiance due to surface slope and aspect variations. The difference in radiance between a horizontal and sloping surface of the same cover type provides a measure of the topographic effect (Holben and Justice 1981). Holben and Justice (1979) also measured it and showed that the effect is most extreme in areas of rugged terrain and especially for slopes in the principal plane of the sun and at low solar elevations. 3, record 9, English, - topographic%20effect

Reciprocity effect. All photographic emulsions are subject to an effect often called reciprocity-law failure. The reciprocity law states that intensity of the illumination falling on a film times the exposure time equals the amount of exposure(E=I x T). This law does apply for most black-and-white films from exposure times of about 1/5 sec. to 1/1000 sec. and for colour films over a narrower range. Thus, where the law holds, an exposure of 1/60 sec. at f/11 is equivalent to an exposure of 1/30 sec. at f/16. 2, record 10, English, - reciprocity%20effect
