The procedure is based on the principle that two digital radiographic images obtained under different time intervals, with the same projection geometry, are spatially and densitometrically aligned using specific software. When the two images are registered and intensities of corresponding pixels are subtracted of the gray scale values, a uniform difference image is produced, resulting in a new image representing the differences between the two, called the subtraction image. In this new image, if there is a change in the radiographic attenuation between the baseline and follow-up examination, all the anatomical structures that do not change between radiographs are shown as neutral gray background, while regions that had mineral loss or gain are shown as a darker or brighter area, respectively... 1, record 1, English, - digital%20subtraction%20radiography

Atomic-force microscopy is similar to scanning-tunneling microscopy(STM) in that it can image surfaces at atomic-scale resolution. The difference between AFM and STM is that AFM does not require that the sample be an electrically conducting material. Like STM, it uses an atomically-sharp tip that is brought very close to the surface. The tip will feel a chemical attraction or repulsion and will move up or down on its supporting cantilever. This movement is monitored by an optical laser beam as the tip is moved laterally across the surface. As in STM, rastering the tip across the surface produces a topographic map of the surface. 3, record 3, English, - atomic%20force%20microscopy

The image processing consisted in generating intensity images and one coherence image. To facilitate their analysis and interpretation, a coloured composition has been created with the results. This composition is obtained by adding the coherence image in red, the average of both images phase intensities in green and the difference between these phase intensities in blue. As such, a high coherence level(value close to 1) appears in red and indicates a very good phase correlation between the two images, a consequence of the various mechanisms of radar signal scattering and of the lack of change which could affect the target. On the contrary, a weak coherence level(value tending to 0) appears in black and indicates a movement in these zones during the 24 hours interval which separated the two image shots. Lastly, the white spots correspond to areas with a strong radar signal backscattering i. e. with zones of hills or vegetation. 3, record 4, English, - colour%20composition

The first step in developing efficient and accurate algorithms for detecting skin in a hyperspectral image is understanding its reflectance properties. This article describes a simple model based on the layers and makeup of skin and how it absorbs and scatters light. Based on the insights gained from the modeled skin reflectance, we develop an efficient skin detection algorithm called the normalized difference skin index(NDSI), motivated by the normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI). 2, record 6, English, - normalized%20difference%20skin%20index

"Path Image" products are recommended for individuals and organisations experienced in image processing. The "Path Image" product is aligned parallel to the satellite’s orbit path. Latitude and longitude positional information has been added to represent the first, mid, and last pixel positions of each line of data. Data from all beam modes can be processed to this product. 2, record 13, English, - %5C%22Path%20Image%5C%22%20product

The difference between "Path Image" and "Path Image Plus" processing lies in the procedure used to calibrate the data. "Path Image Plus" uses a smaller pixel spacing to retain full RADARSAT beam mode resolution which will enhance your ability to measure point targets. However, it will create a digital file which is considerably larger than a "Path Image" product. 3, record 13, English, - %5C%22Path%20Image%5C%22%20product

In case of buried mine detection, it is expected to find two coherence maxima : the mine and the surface clutter(or air-ground interface). After generating the two interferograms corresponding to these optimum polarization states, one can extract the height difference between them. The ability of the human eye and brain to interpret differences in the perspective of two images as depth is called the stereo effect. The three-dimensional stereo image is called a stereomodel. When looking vertically down at the landscape, one can perceive differences in the heights of features, which gives a three-dimensional view. The strength of this stereo effect depends on the magnitude of the difference, called the parallax, in the two views. The closer the objects are to the camera(i. e., the taller they are), the more different are their relative positions within the image and the closer we perceive them to be. By measuring the parallax and knowing the specifications of the camera and the flying height, the elevation of features in the image can be calculated. 6, record 21, English, - stereomodel

Component Video Interconnects. Inputs 1 and 2 of the SD-641-HD5 have a 3rd type of input connection called a Component Connection (also found on better DVD players and HDTV set top boxes). HDTV monitors such as the SD-641-HD5 can accept signals from HDTV tuners and display 1080I HDTV images when using these component inputs, which can detect and display either HDTV from an HDTV tuner or NTSC signals from the component outputs of a DVD player. 2, record 22, English, - component%20connexion

The part to be inspected is positioned in the field of view of the camera. The image of the part is first digitized by the computer memory. Significant features of the stored image are then "compared" with the same features of a known good part which has been previously placed in computer memory. Any difference between the corresponding characteristics of the two parts will be either within a tolerance and hence good, or out of tolerance and therefore bad. 1, record 25, English, - automatic%20visual%20inspection

1, record 29, French, - effet%20Callier
