When a partly developed image is briefly exposed to actinic light, the final developed image becomes reversed. This is because in areas where the negative image had started to form, the emulsion is desensitized by the oxidation products of development. The result is that the extra exposure affects only the shadow areas of the original negative so that the final image is a positive. This type of reversal is known as the Sabattier effect, after its discoverer. 6, record 4, English, - Sabattier%20effect

6, record 4, French, - effet%20Sabattier

Imagery Exploitation System (IES). Modernized Imagery Exploitation System (MIES). MIES is a Corps and EAC tactical imagery exploitation system capable of receiving, processing, and disseminating national and theater imagery. The MIES provides first phase imagery exploitation for the Indications and Warnings (I&W) missions of Army users. The system provides IMINT reports and Secondary Imagery Dissemination (SID) through an extensive communications section. It travels with its own satellite communications (SATCOM) system that provides the relayed national imagery through the Defense Dissemination System (DDS). 2, record 7, English, - imagery%20exploitation%20system

The imagery Exploitation System/Balanced Technology Initiative(IES/BTI) is a first phase near-real time image exploitation system to support Army Corps intelligence and electronic warfare(IEW) situation development, target development and target acquisition. IES/BTI exploits synthetic aperture radar(SAR) and infrared(IR) imagery and annotates the presence and type(artillery, armor, etc) of military units(company size and above). IES/BTI employs a hierarchical reasoning paradigm, using Bayesian inference for hypotheses management and belief propagation to solve the complex force/terrain/military situation and formation. 3, record 7, English, - imagery%20exploitation%20system

In the chromogenic processes, three selectively light sensitive layers in the silver halide emulsion are exposed to light. Initially, a black and white, silver halide, latent image is chemically developed to form a negative on all three layers. During this stage, the developer used to convert the exposed silver halide to metallic silver becomes oxidized. The oxidized developer combines with color couplers initiating the selective formation of cyan, magenta and yellow dyes within discrete layers of the emulsion. The image silver is then bleached and unexposed silver halide is removed by fixing. 3, record 9, English, - image%20silver

1, record 13, French, - illisibilit%C3%A9
