Optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA) is a noninvasive technique that can detect blood flow signal in retinal and choroidal vessels using motion contrast. It compares the decorrelation signal(differences in the backscattered OCT [optical coherence tomography] signal intensity) between sequential OCT B-scans taken at the same cross-section; thus, yielding maps of vascular flow.... Numerous studies described how to automatically detect and classify retinal disorders(e. g., diabetic retinopathy [DR]). However, most of them relied on fundus images rather than on OCT images or OCT angiograms. Recent development in OCTA induced attempts to use advanced image processing in order to extract quantitative information that characterizes the vascular network in the retina from the angiograms.

The inventors have recognized the benefits of providing an augmented reality system that may be capable of automatically identifying and tracking features within a three-dimensional environment for the purpose of projecting information into the three-dimensional environment to instruct an operator in a specific procedure. In another embodiment, a method for providing augmented reality includes the steps of : collecting visual information of an environment; identifying a plurality of features within the environment; comparing the plurality of features to a visual signature to identify a situation; performing markerless tracking of the plurality of features; and providing a visual prompt to a user regarding the identified situation.

Smart eyewear is defined as eyewear incorporating a near-to-eye display. As used herein, near-to-eye display means a display, device, or system, such as a retinal projector, virtual retinal display, visualization element, head-mounted display, heads-up display, or other near-to-eye system, typically worn on the head of a user that generates an image near the eye. In a smart eyewear configuration, a display device is often mounted adjacent to an edge of each of the wearer's eyes and an image is typically displayed in the center of each lens. The location of the displayed image, therefore, forces the wearer to gaze in a direction to view the image generated by the display. Typically positioned near the user's eye, the display is aligned to the central region of the user's field of view to allow review of the displayed information with little or no head movement. This enables the user to view the display while also viewing the area outside the central region and interacting with the surrounding environment. In another embodiment, the displayed image is aligned to a region other than the central region of the user's field of view.

Near-eye display devices are configured to present images to a user via a display that is positioned close to the user’s eyes. For example, a head-mounted augmented reality display device may be worn on a user’s head to position a near-eye display directly in front of a user’s eyes. This may allow virtual objects to be displayed such that the virtual objects appear to exist within the real-world environment.

X-ray microscopy also provides information about the uniformity of sperm chromatin organization and the extent of sperm chromatin hydration.

These methods were developed to improve and extend the information obtainable from TEM images of particulate samples, typically proteins or other large biological entities such as viruses. Combining several digitized images of similar particles together gives an image with stronger and more easily interpretable features. An extension of this technique uses single particle methods to build up a three dimensional reconstruction of the particle.

It is generally found that natural objects possess self-similarity and self-affinity in their structures. Fractal analysis, a technique based on these properties, has been widely used in various research applications. In the active remote sensing of the earth terrain, it is possible to extract this fractal information from the images obtained. In this application, fractal surface dimension, an important parameter in fractal analysis, can be employed as an additional feature to classify different landuse areas. This fractal surface dimension is generally related to the roughness of the surface. By keeping the x and y coordinates of the pixels of the image, and taking the grey level of each pixel as its z coordinate, a three-dimensional surface can be constructed. The calculation of fractal surface dimension can then be carried out on that surface.

Elle ne nécessite aucune connaissance a priori sur l'image, et étudie la régularité locale et globale par le biais de l'exposant de Hölder et du spectre multifractal. Les singularités et les irrégularités d'un signal sont souvent porteuses de la plus grande part d'information.

Envisat's ASAR [Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar] instrument is the first permanent spaceborne radar to incorporate dual-polarisation capabilities-the instrument can transmit and receive signals in either horizontal or vertical polarisation. This Alternating Polarisation(AP) mode can improve the capability of a SAR instrument to classify different types of terrain. Because the reflective properties of a surface are dependant on the polarisation of the incoming radar signal, the use of more than one type of polarisation provides valuable extra information. The ASAR AP mode provides two simultaneous images(or channels) of the same scene taken with different radar polarisation options. Since the radar can transmit and receive in both the horizontal(H) and vertical(V) polarisations, researchers can create image pairs, with possible combinations, HH&VV... HH&HV and VV&VH. A cross-polarisation option employs a channel in which the polarisation signal transmitted by the spacecraft is received on a different polarisation, i. e. transmitted using a horizontal polarisation and received on the vertical for an HV combination, or the reverse for a VH combination.
