IMAGE INVERSION [4 records]

Record 1 2026-03-25

English

Subject field(s)
  • Surgical Instruments
  • Eye Surgery
CONT

Macular surgery often requires high image resolution than is provided by the [wide-angle viewing systems]. In such a scenario, a macular lens is preferred to increase the magnification of the posterior pole for more delicate and precise surgical maneuvers, such as internal limiting membrane(ILM) and ERM [epiretinal membrane] dissection. These lenses provide a much smaller field of view, limiting their use to primarily posterior pole surgery. The view provided through these lenses is direct, thus inversion is not necessary. Most are contact lenses and require either a coupling agent or a handheld irrigation system... Lenses come in disposable and nondisposable forms.

OBS

flat lens: ... a lens with minimal curvature across its surface.

OBS

macular lens: designation usually used in the plural.

Key term(s)

Record 2 2007-05-07

English

Subject field(s)
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging
CONT

The FLAIR sequence produces heavily T2-weighted images with cerebrospinal fluid suppression by using the inversion recovery scheme and acquiring the image data after a time delay(called the inversion time), when the longitudinal magnetization of the signal from cerebrospinal fluid is 0.

OBS

The acronym and the terms are often followed by the word "sequence" to make them more transparent.

OBS

dark fluid: term used by the MRI manufacturer Siemens.

PHR

FLAIR image, imaging, MRI, scan, sequence; fluid attenuated inversion recovery image, imaging, magnetic resonance imaging, pulse sequence, sequence; dark fluid contrast, sequence, technique.

Key term(s)
  • fluid-attenuated inversion-recovery
  • fluid-attenuated inversion recovery
  • fluid attenuated inversion-recovery

French

Domaine(s)
  • Imagerie par résonance magnétique
DEF

Subject field(s)
  • Atmospheric, Climatic and Meteorological Phenomena
  • Optics
DEF

An image of an object formed in the atmosphere above its position, when the temperature lapse rate near the surface is less than its normal value, especially under inversion conditions over snowfields, cold seas, etc.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Phénomènes météorologiques, climatiques et atmosphériques
  • Optique
DEF
