Optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA) is a noninvasive technique that can detect blood flow signal in retinal and choroidal vessels using motion contrast. It compares the decorrelation signal(differences in the backscattered OCT [optical coherence tomography] signal intensity) between sequential OCT B-scans taken at the same cross-section; thus, yielding maps of vascular flow.... Numerous studies described how to automatically detect and classify retinal disorders(e. g., diabetic retinopathy [DR]). However, most of them relied on fundus images rather than on OCT images or OCT angiograms. Recent development in OCTA induced attempts to use advanced image processing in order to extract quantitative information that characterizes the vascular network in the retina from the angiograms. 3, record 1, English, - optical%20coherence%20tomography%20angiogram

To maintain a stable perception of the world around us while we engage in normal movements throughout our day, such as walking, we have something known as the vestibulo-ocular reflex(VOR). This reflex keeps us steady and balanced even though our eyes and head are continuously moving when we perform most actions. When we make a head movement, our eye muscles are triggered instantly to create an eye movement opposite to that of our head movement at the exact same speed to readjust the visual world, which, in turn, stabilizes our retinal image by keeping the eye still in space and focused on an object, despite the head motion. 8, record 2, English, - vestibulo%2Docular%20reflex

GOES-9, a three axis stabilized spacecraft, remains stationary in space which allows the [imager and sounder] instruments to be continuously pointed at the earth. The scanning system moves back and forth(i. e., east to west and then west to east) as it moves north to south. While the spacecraft is stationary, it is not absolutely still. Earth location and registration accuracy are [affected] by orbital motions, instrument motion, and thermal distortion. A complicated set of navigation(earth location) and registration(image-to-image location of a landmark) correction schemes are necessary to compensate for these effects.... The registration schemes briefly are : 1) image motion compensation(IMC) and 2) mirror motion compensation(MMC). The IMC removes spacecraft orbit and attitude motion from each image. The MMC automatically corrects for the predictable effects of the instrument mirror motions. 3, record 3, English, - mirror%20motion%20compensation

High brightness, short pulse width(<200 picoseconds) x-ray lasers now offer biologists the possibility of high-resolution imaging of specimens in an aqueous environment without the blurring effects associated with natural motion or chemical erosion. As a step toward developing the capabilities of this type of x-ray microscopy, a tantalum x-ray laser at a 44. 83-angstrom wavelength was used together with an x-ray zone plate optic to image both unlabeled and selectively gold-labeled dried rat sperm nuclei. In the image, 500-angstrom features are clearly visible. This illustrates the importance of x-ray microscopy in determining chemical composition. X-ray microscopy also provides information about the uniformity of sperm chromatin organization and the extent of sperm chromatin hydration. 2, record 10, English, - X%2Dray%20microscopy

1, record 12, French, - technologie%20d%27inversion%20de%20pas%20des%20cadres%20d%27image%203%3A2%20CineMotion

Depending on the spatial arrangement of the detectors, the relative calibration error may be constant in one spatial direction. For example, a linear array of detectors may cause relative errors across the image, but since the rest of the image is formed by the motion of the sensor platform, the relative error is constant down the columns of the image. This may cause a vertical striping effect. Or, for a line scanning detector array, the striping may be horizontal as was found in early Landsat MSS sensors. Thus, in implementing the calibration error model, the type and arrangement of detectors must be considered. 2, record 19, English, - striping%20effect

The mirror nephoscope consists essentially of a horizontal disk of black glass engraved with concentric circles. A vertical pointer adjustable to various known heights is mounted on the rim of the instrument. The pointer is so placed by the observer that the image of the cloud under observation is in line with the pointer and the centre of the disk. The image is kept in line with the pointer as it moves, and the direction of motion is read off from a scale on the rim of the circle. Another type of mirror nephoscope has a mirror on which the only marking is a centre point. 5, record 24, English, - mirror%20nephoscope

In a long synthetic aperture (array), SAR focusing involves the removal and compensation of path length differences from the antenna to the target on the ground. 2, record 33, English, - SAR%20focusing
Record number: 33, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The main advantage of a focused synthetic aperture is that it increases its array length over those radar signals that can be processed, and thus increases potential SAR resolution at any range. SAR focusing is a necessary process when the length of a synthetic array is a significant fraction of the range to ground being imaged, as the lines-of-sight(range) from a particular point on the ground to each individual element of the array differ in distance. These range differences, or path length differences, of the radar signals can affect image quality. In a focused SAR image these phase errors can be compensated for by applying a phase correction to the return signal at each synthetic aperture element. Focusing errors may be introduced by unknown or uncorrected platform motion. In an unfocused SAR image, the usable synthetic aperture length is quite limited. 2, record 33, English, - SAR%20focusing

Figure 1... shows the principle of laminography, a synchronized motion between an X-ray source and a detector generating an geometric focus plane and forms an X-ray slice image of that. Objects in the focal plane are always projected at the same position of the detector. On the other hand, those that are not in the focal plane are projected to other positions of the detector and thus are blurred as the source and detector move in a complete circle. Thus the "noise" from the materials above and below the focal plane is eliminated when all the images on the detectors are overlapped. 2, record 36, English, - laminography

Although real motion video is the holy grail of multimedia, it still is impractical using today's technology. The current method for working with video is by capturing and converting the analog signal from a video source and either manipulating the image's data(which is written to video tape) or compressing the data using compression techniques(either software-only compression or a combination of hardware and software compression). To display or capture a single screen of an NTSC signal, you must have a video frame grabber. These are lowest on the rungs of the video ladder, in that they have less capability than boards that capture streaming video. These cards enable you to grab a single frame of video from a Laser Disk or a VCR. Video frame grabbers come in two varieties : single-frame capture and real-time capture. Single-frame capture boards enable you to freeze a selected frame and record it to your hard disk. In this function, single-frame boards are similar to scanners-they provide a means of capturing an image and saving it for use in a multimedia title.... The MPEG standard is primarily a bitstream specification, although it also specifies a typical decoding process to assist in interpreting the bitstream specification. This approach supports data interchange, but it does not restrict creativity and innovation in the means for creating or decoding that bitstream. The bitstream architecture is based on a sequence of pictures, each of which contains the data needed to create a single displayable image. Note that the order of transmission of pictures in the data stream may not be the same as the order in which pictures will be displayed-this will be evident shortly. There are four different kinds of pictures, depending on how each picture is to be decoded : I pictures.... P pictures are predicted pictures, which are coded using motion compensation from a previous I or P picture. B pictures.... D pictures.... 1, record 40, English, - P%20picture

3, record 41, French, - image

The Lorenz attractor. This magical image, resembling an owl' s mask or butterfly's wings, became en emblem for the early explorers of chaos. It revealed the fine structure hidden within a disorderly stream of data. Traditionally, the changing values of any one variable could be displayed in a so-called time series. To show the changing relationships among three variables required a different technique. At any instant in time, the three variables fix the location of a point in three-dimensional space; as the system changes, the motion of the point represents the continuously changing variables. Because the system never exactly repeats itself, the trajectory never intersects itself. Instead it loops around and around forever. 2, record 44, English, - Lorenz%20attractor
