IMAGE RECTIFICATION [5 records]

Record 1 2015-02-20

English

Subject field(s)
  • Mathematical Geography
  • Photography
  • Biogeography
DEF

The process by which orthophotos are made.

CONT

Orthophotography has made it possible to map areas that would otherwise have gone unmapped ...

OBS

Orthophotos are produced from perspective photos(usually aerial photos) through a process called differential rectification, which eliminates image displacements due to photographic tilt and relief.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Géographie mathématique
  • Photographie
  • Biogéographie
DEF

Processus d'obtention des orthophotographies.

OBS

orthophotographie : Image photographique obtenue par redressement différentiel à partir d'un cliché aérien à peu près vertical représentant un terrain non plan.

DEF

Modifying the geometry of an image(which may be from either a remotely sensed or map data source) [that] usually involves rectification and/or registration.

CONT

Overview of resampling methods. From the perspective of space, a satellite camera or sensor takes images that provide unique Earth information at scales ranging from very small to very large. To better understand an image, its shape, scale and perspective often are changed by rectification, orthorectification or map projection to relate it to real world coordinates. During that process, however, gaps between pixels may form, requiring that images be resampled to fill in those missing pixels. There are basically 3 methods of resampling : nearest neighbor, bilinear interpolation and cubic convolution.

Domaine(s)
  • Télédétection

  • Audiovisuel (techniques et équipement)
CONT

Subject field(s)

DEF

A resampling method that uses the data file values of four pixels in a 2 by 2 window to calculate an output data file value by computing a weighted average of the input data file values with a bilinear function.

OBS

Depending upon the relation between the DEM [Digital Elevation Model] and radar resolutions, the interpolation method used to resample from map to radar image geometry can become important. Bilinear interpolation uses the appropriate weighting to distribute the contribution of the local illuminated area into four adjacent radar geometry pixels.

OBS

resampling : Modifying the geometry of an image(which may be from either a remotely sensed or map data source) [that] usually involves rectification and/or registration.

OBS

bilinear interpolation resampling: term officially approved by the RADARSAT-2 Terminology Approval Group (RTAG).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Télédétection
  • Infographie
OBS

English

Subject field(s)
  • Remote Sensing
DEF

A process by which the geometry of an image area is made planimetric; it does not allow the removal of relief and perspective distortions.

CONT

Image rectification is applied to individual cell files, with the control points for the group used to control the rectification. The rectified cell files are placed into another database known as the target database. Rectification can be applied to any or all of the cell files associated with a group.

OBS

image rectification : term officially approved by the RADARSAT-2 Terminology Approval Group(RTAG).

Domaine(s)
  • Télédétection
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Remote Sensing
OBS

Cubic convolution determines the grey level from the weighted average of the 16 closest pixels to the specified input coordinates, and assigns that value to the output coordinates.

OBS

Resampling : Modifying the geometry of an image(which may be from either a remotely sensed or map data source) [that] usually involves rectification and/or registration.

OBS

cubic convolution resampling: term officially approved by the RADARSAT-2 Terminology Approval Group (RTAG).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Télédétection
OBS
