GOES-9, a three axis stabilized spacecraft, remains stationary in space which allows the [imager and sounder] instruments to be continuously pointed at the earth. The scanning system moves back and forth(i. e., east to west and then west to east) as it moves north to south. While the spacecraft is stationary, it is not absolutely still. Earth location and registration accuracy are [affected] by orbital motions, instrument motion, and thermal distortion. A complicated set of navigation(earth location) and registration(image-to-image location of a landmark) correction schemes are necessary to compensate for these effects.... The registration schemes briefly are : 1) image motion compensation(IMC) and 2) mirror motion compensation(MMC). The IMC removes spacecraft orbit and attitude motion from each image. The MMC automatically corrects for the predictable effects of the instrument mirror motions. 3, record 1, English, - mirror%20motion%20compensation

1, record 5, Spanish, - registro%20de%20la%20imagen

We propose a finite-element method(FEM) deformable breast model that does not require elastic breast data for nonrigid PET/MRI [positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging] breast image registration. The model is applicable only if the stress conditions in the imaged breast are virtually the same in PET and MRI. Under these conditions, the observed intermodality displacements are solely due to the imaging/reconstruction process. Similar stress conditions are assured by use of an MRI breast-antenna replica for breast support during PET, and use of the same positioning. 3, record 6, English, - breast%2Dantenna

Modifying the geometry of an image(which may be from either a remotely sensed or map data source) [that] usually involves rectification and/or registration. 3, record 8, English, - resampling
Record number: 8, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Overview of resampling methods. From the perspective of space, a satellite camera or sensor takes images that provide unique Earth information at scales ranging from very small to very large. To better understand an image, its shape, scale and perspective often are changed by rectification, orthorectification or map projection to relate it to real world coordinates. During that process, however, gaps between pixels may form, requiring that images be resampled to fill in those missing pixels. There are basically 3 methods of resampling: nearest neighbor, bilinear interpolation and cubic convolution. 4, record 8, English, - resampling

IRMA (Image Retrieval in Medical Applications) is a cooperative project of the Department of Diagnostic Radiology, the Department of Medical Informatics, Division of Medical Image Processing and the Chair of Computer Science VI at the Aachen University of Technology (RWTH Aachen). Aim of the project is the development and implementation of high-level methods for content-based image retrieval with prototypical application to medico-diagnostic tasks on a radiologic image archive. 2, record 12, English, - image%20retrieval%20in%20medical%20applications

The concept for content-based image retrieval in medical applications(IRMA) is based on the separation of the following processing steps : categorization of the entire image; registration with respect to prototypes; extraction and query-dependent selection of local features; hierarchical blob representation including object identification; and finally, image retrieval. 3, record 12, English, - image%20retrieval%20in%20medical%20applications

1, record 12, French, - recherche%20d%27images%20applicable%20au%20domaine%20m%C3%A9dical

A direct imaging press is basically a conventional offset press except that the image carrier(plate) is imaged directly on the press with built-in laser exposure units. Many of the press settings, such as plate registration, ink flow, and cleanup are adjusted with digital information as well. Unlike a true digital press, which can vary the image on every printed sheet, the image cannot be varied during a press run on a direct imaging press. 1, record 13, English, - direct%20imaging%20technology

registration : The degree to which one [film] frame lines up with the next is registration. A camera with poor registration will create an image that will gently bobble when projected. Lateral chromatic aberration occurs because the magnification of the image differs with wavelength. In a television camera it causes registration error. Lateral chromatic aberration also has a secondary chromatic aberration, making it difficult to correct all three, red, blue and green, wavelengths at the same time. 1, record 16, English, - lateral%20chromatic%20aberration
