CONT

Optical coherence tomography(OCT) is a non-contact imaging technique which generates cross-sectional images of tissue with high resolution. Therefore it is especially valuable in organs, where traditional microscopic tissue diagnosis by means of biopsy is not available—such as the human eye. Since OCT is completely noninvasive, it provides in vivo images without impacting the tissue that is imaged. Fast scanning rates and quick signal processing allows for image visualization in real time and at video rate.... the resolution of OCT is much higher than that of other medical imaging methods like ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).

CONT

CONT

Optical coherence tomography angiography(OCTA) is a noninvasive technique that can detect blood flow signal in retinal and choroidal vessels using motion contrast. It compares the decorrelation signal(differences in the backscattered OCT [optical coherence tomography] signal intensity) between sequential OCT B-scans taken at the same cross-section; thus, yielding maps of vascular flow.... Numerous studies described how to automatically detect and classify retinal disorders(e. g., diabetic retinopathy [DR]). However, most of them relied on fundus images rather than on OCT images or OCT angiograms. Recent development in OCTA induced attempts to use advanced image processing in order to extract quantitative information that characterizes the vascular network in the retina from the angiograms.

CONT

... DInSAR [differential interferometry synthetic aperture radar] can measure differential propagation delay with millimetric accuracy as in the case of the C-band synthetic aperture radars of the European Sentinel-1 satellites.

OBS

synthetic aperture radar; SAR :[A] synthetic aperture radar(SAR) is a side-looking imaging radar usually operating on either an aircraft or a spacecraft. The radar transmits a series of short, coherent pulses to the ground producing a footprint whose size is inversely proportional to the antenna size, its aperture. Because the antenna size is generally small, the footprint is large and any particular target is illuminated by several hundred radar pulses. Intensive signal processing involving the detection of small Doppler shifts in the reflected signals from targets to the moving radar produces a high resolution image that is equivalent to one that would have been collected by a radar with a much larger aperture.

CONT

... the industry standard for fish detection are split-beam echosounders. In ideal survey conditions, their echograms provide a clear image of fish as they travel through the beam of ensonified water. For high-energy tidal channels, the conventional processing approach is to limit the depth range by excluding the surface as it is difficult to distinguish bubbles from fish in areas of entrained air... When fish form dense aggregations, it can be difficult to acoustically identify an individual fish from its neighbour when the signal is over-saturated.

  • Remote Sensing
DEF

A remote-sensing term referring to the process of assigning different colours to different spectral bands.

CONT

The image processing consisted in generating intensity images and one coherence image. To facilitate their analysis and interpretation, a coloured composition has been created with the results. This composition is obtained by adding the coherence image in red, the average of both images phase intensities in green and the difference between these phase intensities in blue. As such, a high coherence level(value close to 1) appears in red and indicates a very good phase correlation between the two images, a consequence of the various mechanisms of radar signal scattering and of the lack of change which could affect the target. On the contrary, a weak coherence level(value tending to 0) appears in black and indicates a movement in these zones during the 24 hours interval which separated the two image shots. Lastly, the white spots correspond to areas with a strong radar signal backscattering i. e. with zones of hills or vegetation.

CONT

CONT

New methods of acoustic imaging are presented that provide images with reduced reverberation noise and images of nonlinear scattering and propagation parameters of the object, and estimation methods of corrections for wave front aberrations produced by spatial variations in the acoustic propagation velocity. The methods find use in a variety of applications such as acoustic imaging of geological structures, SONAR imaging of sub-sea objects, and medical ultrasound imaging. The methods are based on processing of the received signal from transmitted dual frequency band acoustic pulse complexes with overlapping high and low frequency pulses. The high frequency pulse is used for the image reconstruction and the low frequency pulse is used to manipulate the nonlinear scattering and/or propagation properties of the high frequency pulse.

Domaine(s)
  • Télédétection
CONT

This paper proposes a novel algorithm for mammographic image enhancement, based on identifying the peripheral region of the breast and suppressing the large change in signal caused by reduction of thickness there... The first step is to generate a thickness map using two phantoms, one which simulates the shape of the breast in the cranio-caudal projection and a second one as a triangular attenuator.
