CONT

The Hough transform is a technique which can be used to isolate features of a particular shape within an image. Because it requires that the desired features be specified in some parametric form, the classical Hough transform is most commonly used for the detection of regular curves such as lines, circles, ellipses, etc.

The Hough transform is a technique used to identify counterfeit integrated circuits.

DEF

A type of two-way frequency transform for identifying and removing unwanted spatial frequency components in an image.

OBS

The Fourier process is normally used to identify and remove systematic noise spikes, such as regular lines that may have been introduced by a faulty image collection device. The process works as a two-way operation. First the forward transform creates a pair of intermediate raster objects that reveal abnormal data variability. After the values in those raster objects have been edited to remove the data spikes, the inverse transformation creates a raster object with the same image as the original, but with lines or other noise removed.

Mathematical space in which the Fourier transform of the image is presented.

OBS

Simply speaking, k-space is the temporary image space in which data from digitized MR [magnetic resonance] signals are stored during data acquisition. When k-space is full (at the end of the scan), the data are mathematically processed to produce a final image. Thus k-space holds raw data before reconstruction.

The interest of a ground based Slit Aperture Telescope(SAT) which operates with a long thin pupil has been underlined for applications in the field of high angular resolution observations by speckle-interferometric techniques. The SAT lies halfway between the Michelson stellar interferometer and the standard telescope with circular aperture. The authors present the principle of an image processing algorithm which could be used associated with a space-SAT for astronomical image reconstruction. A full coverage of the two dimensional Fourier plane of the astronomical object can be obtained by rotating the SAT around its optical axis. The method of image reconstruction is analogous to those used in computerized tomography and uses Fast Fourier Transform algorithm. The interest of the use of a rotating space-SAT among synthetic apertures is its capability of giving a reconstructed image of the astronomical object simultaneously in several light wavelengths, each colored image being comparable with the others for fruitful astrophysical applications.

DEF

A technique used in image restoration, enhancement or coding [that is] a separable orthogonal transform or an expansion of the matrix in rank-1 matrices.

CONT

This paper presents a simple and effective method for matching two uncalibrated images. Corner points are firstly extracted as interest points in the two images. Each interest point is assigned one dominant orientation. The initial set of point matches is then obtained by singular value decomposition of a correspondence strength matrix. A new expression of this matrix is introduced to handle more complicated imaging conditions. Each element of this matrix is the similarity measure between two interest points. The new similarity measure is invariant to image rotation by taking into account the dominant orientation of the two interest points. The epipolar geometry constraint is finally imposed to reject the false matches. Experimental results on real images show this approach to be effective for general image matching.
