Twenty-three patients who had experienced a major stressful event were given a debriefing session followed by eight weekly sessions of imaginal exposure and in vivo exposure... Several empirical studies suggest that exposure in vivo and response prevention have a differential treatment effect on the complaints presented by patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder(OCD)... ritualistic behaviour was less strongly affected by exposure in vivo following response prevention [Source : PASCAL database].

A form of exposure therapy in which individuals confront feared objects and situations in imagination only.

CONT

In imaginal exposure the client repeatedly recounts trauma experiences over the course of several sessions until the emotions generated by the retelling habituate(lessen) over time. The client retells his/her experiences using the present tense as if the experience were happening all over again. In this study, discussion of the meaning of the traumatic event was not part of the imaginal exposure treatment to distinguish it from cognitive therapy.

DEF

A questionnaire designed to measure introversion-extroversion and the thinking, feeling, sensing, and intuiting modes of Jung.

CONT

In describing personality Jung assumes that both attitudes and all four functions are part of the inherent endowment of all human beings.... An individual would then have as descriptors of personality three identifying features, a dominant attitude, a first function and an auxiliary function. The general schema that emerges is a sixteen category typology. The behavioral and imaginal characteristics of each type are elaborated in the work of Isabel Briggs-Meyers(1962) whose Type-Indicator represents the most sophisticated attempt to measure individual type structure.

OBS

Extraversion-introversion.
