Embedded GPS INS. The EGI is in an all-attitude navigation system providing outputs of linear and angular acceleration, velocity, position, attitude (roll, pitch, and platform azimuth), magnetic and true heading, altitude, time tags, and time. When installed in the host platforms in the appropriate configuration, the system provides the navigation functions of the equipment it replaces. It uses vehicle electrical power (28 Vdc), turn-on and mode commands, initialization data, and altitude data, as well as Global Positioning System (GPS) satellite inputs for GPS or GPS/Inertial Navigation System (INS) operation, and is able to track five space vehicles simultaneously. 1, record 15, English, - all%2Dattitude%20navigation%20system

A measure of anterior flexion of the lumbar spine. With the patient standing erect, a mark is placed on the skin overlying the lumbosacral junction, that is, at an imaginary line joining the dimples of Venus(posterior, superior iliac spines). A second mark is placed 10 cm above the first. The patient then is asked to bend forward as if to touch his/her toes. With the spine in the fullest flexion, distance between the two marks is measured; it should exceed 15 cm in normal individuals. The measurement declines with progressive loss of spinal motion as seen in ankylosing spondylitis, degenerative disc disease, degenerative joint disease, and with aging. 2, record 33, English, - Schober%20test

Note that if were making a geologic map, we could draw a line on the map that separates the pelitic rocks containing only Pyrophyllite from those containing Kyanite + Quartz. Such a line (a surface in 3 dimensions) is called an isograd (iso - same, grad - grade). In this case, since it represents the first appearance of Kyanite, we call it the Kyanite Isograd ... If we continue walking along the direction that T & P increased in these rocks during metamorphism, we would eventually come to another place where in the pelitic rocks the mineral assemblage changes. This time the change is from Kyanite + Quartz to Sillimanite + Quartz. Again, we can draw a line on the map that indicates this change in mineral assemblage, this time calling it the Sillimanite Isograd. Just like before, this represents the point on the phase diagram, above, where the geothermal gradient intersected the boundary for the reaction ... Because the sandstone and the limestone do not contain Kyanite, the isograd does not appear in these rocks, but we can still extrapolate its position across the map or outcrop. 3, record 34, English, - sillimanite%20isograd

For visualization purposes, the station's direction of motion is called the velocity vector, or V-bar for short. By convention, points in front of the station are said to be on the positive V-bar while points behind are considered negative. The imaginary line connecting the station with the center of the Earth is called the radius vector, or R-bar. Points directly below the station along this line are considered positive while points above are considered negative. Endeavour, then, will approach the station along the plus R-bar. The station will be oriented with its long axis aligned with the velocity vector, with the Unity module in "front" and Zvezda behind. Unity's nadir and zenith ports will be oriented as their names imply. This orientation, or attitude, is known as "XVV, "i. e., the station's X axis is aligned with the velocity vector. The terminal rendezvous sequence will begin with a rocket firing(TI) as Endeavour trails the station by about eight nautical miles. Once the shuttle reaches the plus R-bar, commander Brent Jett will guide the ship up from directly below. As he nears the station, he will yaw the shuttle 180 degrees so its tail is pointing in the direction of motion and its nose toward the minus V-bar. Assuming a good linkup, the shuttle will begin controlling the station's orientation for the duration of Endeavour's mission, moving the lab back into an "X-POP" attitude with the station's X axis perpendicular to the plane of its orbit. In this orientation, the long axis of the station is broadside to the velocity vector. 4, record 49, English, - R%2Dbar%20approach

The flight plan calls for Wetherbee to approach Mir from directly below, along the imaginary line joining the station and the center of the Earth. This is known as the R-bar, or radius vector, and shuttles approaching from below are said to be carrying out a "plus R-bar rendezvous"(it would be a negative R-bar approach if Atlantis came in from above Mir). By approaching from below, the shuttle can utilize the natural braking provided by Earth's gravity to minimize the use of upward firing thrusters that could damage Mir's fragile solar arrays. 1, record 55, English, - negative%20R%2Dbar%20approach

The imaginary line connecting the station with the center of the Earth is called the radius vector, or R-bar. Points directly below the station along this line are considered positive while points above are considered negative. 4, record 56, English, - R%2Dbar
Record number: 56, Textual support number: 2 CONT
5, record 56, English, - R%2Dbar

The final phase of rendezvous operations begins about three hours prior to Atlantis’ docking with the ISS [International Space Station]. Atlantis will approach the ISS from below, in what is referred to as a plus-R bar approach, to minimize the effects of jet thruster firings on the station and its solar arrays. About 40 minutes before the terminal initiation burn (Ti burn) when Atlantis moves within 135,000 feet of the station, the shuttle’s rendezvous radar system is activated to provide supplemental navigation information.
