  • Target Acquisition
CONT

Area correlation tracking(ACT) is an effective solution for tracking targets that have neither prominent features nor high contrast with the background. The essential step in area correlation tracking is to find the position of best-fit between the reference image of the terrain surrounding the desired target to the real-time scene acquired by an imaging sensor.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Magnetic Resonance Imaging
CONT

In the last decade, an exciting development has been functional MRI [magnetic resonance imaging](fMRI). The most commonly used method is the blood oxygen-level dependent(BOLD) technique... This method detects changes of blood levels of oxygen saturation(because of the concentration of deoxyhemoglobin), and an area with more oxygenated blood is more intense on T2-weighted images.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Imagerie par résonance magnétique
CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Vertebrae and Bone Marrow
CONT

Treating patients with vertebral fractures... First, the patient is given a local anesthetic. Then using a technique called percutaneous vertebroplasty, a needle is inserted into the spine at the area of the fracture. Doctors use imaging techniques, such as CT scanning and fluoroscopy, to guide placement of the needle during the procedure. Under continued radiographic guidance, the methyl methacrylate is slowly injected into the vertebral space. Then, the needle is withdrawn. Shortly after injection, the epoxy hardens within the spine.

OBS

Occasionally, PPMA [poly(methyl methacrylate)] has been placed manually [as opposed to percutaneously] into vertebral lesions during open surgical operations.

DEF

OBS

Certaines fractures vertébrales douloureuses et invalidantes en rapport avec un myélome ou un plasmocytome sont des indications électives si le traitement médical est insuffisant. CONT

To target a specific area on the Earth disk, the scanning thresholds can be set so that a reduced number of forward scan lines are included in each scan cycle. Since these reduced scans can be completed in less time than a full Earth disk scan, reduced scans can provide imagery with a higher temporal resolution than that of the normal half-hourly full Earth disk scans. This mode of scanning is often referred to as reduced scanning or rapid scanning. It should be noted that in rapid scan imaging mode the spin rate, the stepping rate, the number of pixels per line of image data and the resolution of the image data are identical to that for normal full Earth disk scans.
