... retromode imaging(RMI) is a noncontact and a noninvasive imaging method that relies on... confocal scanning laser ophthalmoscopic technology. Briefly, there are two kinds of light returning back from the fundus once it is illuminated, a direct reflex and a scattered light.... RMI is performed by a scanning laser ophthalmoscope(SLO) working at an infrared wavelength, which creates a pseudo three-dimensional image with highly contrasting margins of retinal abnormalities(e. g., neurosensory detachments, retinal holes, retinoschisis and intraretinal cystic fluid). 5, record 1, English, - scanning%20laser%20ophthalmoscopy%20retromode%20imaging

... fundus autofluorescence(FAF) imaging, which detects autofluorescent material, i. e., lipofuscin, in the retinal pigment epithelium(RPE). Fluorophores detectable with this imaging method may also occur anterior or posterior to the RPE cell monolayer. Excessive lipofuscin accumulation in the RPE is a common downstream pathogenic pathway in various monogenetic and complex retinal diseases including age-related macular degeneration. The accumulated lipofuscin produces a signal that is captured in the FAF image allowing in vivo mapping of metabolic changes in the RPE. 6, record 2, English, - fundus%20autofluorescence%20imaging

The analytical electron microscope(AEM) is based on a conventional 200 keV transmission electron microscope(TEM) which has been augmented to include the functions of a scanning transmission electron microscope(STEM) and the scanning electron microscope(SEM). Since the electrons must penetrate through the specimen, the specimen dimensions must be no greater than 1 micrometer thick, and preferably in the range of 100 nm. Bulk specimens may be thinned to this range by a combination of mechanical, chemical, and ion sputtering techniques, all of which are available in the microanalysis laboratory. As an imaging tool, the AEM is capable of 0. 3 nm spatial resolution in the TEM mode, 1 nm resolution in the STEM mode, and 3 nm resolution in the SEM mode. Elemental microanalysis is carried out by means of energy dispersive x-ray spectrometry(EDS) and electron energy loss spectrometry(EELS), which together provide sensitivity to all elements with atomic number > 2. Quantitative analysis is carried out by means of a relative sensitivity factor method based on glass, mineral, and metal alloy standards. 2, record 10, English, - analytical%20electron%20microscope

2, record 10, French, - microscope%20%C3%A9lectronique%20analytique

We propose a finite-element method(FEM) deformable breast model that does not require elastic breast data for nonrigid PET/MRI [positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging] breast image registration. The model is applicable only if the stress conditions in the imaged breast are virtually the same in PET and MRI. Under these conditions, the observed intermodality displacements are solely due to the imaging/reconstruction process. Similar stress conditions are assured by use of an MRI breast-antenna replica for breast support during PET, and use of the same positioning. 3, record 12, English, - breast%2Dantenna

This paper presents a simple and effective method for matching two uncalibrated images. Corner points are firstly extracted as interest points in the two images. Each interest point is assigned one dominant orientation. The initial set of point matches is then obtained by singular value decomposition of a correspondence strength matrix. A new expression of this matrix is introduced to handle more complicated imaging conditions. Each element of this matrix is the similarity measure between two interest points. The new similarity measure is invariant to image rotation by taking into account the dominant orientation of the two interest points. The epipolar geometry constraint is finally imposed to reject the false matches. Experimental results on real images show this approach to be effective for general image matching. 4, record 13, English, - singular%20value%20decomposition
