IMMEDIATE DAMAGE [21 records]

Record 1 2025-12-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Law of Civil Liability (civil law)
CONT

The indirect victim is someone who suffers an autonomous injury after the commission of a fault, where the damage suffered was the logical, direct and immediate result of the fault. This is contrasted with indirect damage where the damage itself is indirect because its source is not the immediate fault.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Droit de la responsabilité civile (droit civil)
CONT

Subject field(s)
  • Emergency Management
DEF

[The] actions taken in response to a disaster warning or alert.

CONT

Here, emergency response is the action taken to avoid or reduce personal injury and damage to property and the environment when an event, such as coastal flooding, which may cause an accident or disaster, is imminent or has happened. These circumstances include... immediate precautionary measures, such as the construction of temporary dykes, but exclude mitigation efforts such as the construction of permanent dykes in the salient period between incidents.

CONT

Advances in information and communication technologies enable the public to contribute to emergency response. For instance, reporting systems set up during recent disasters allowed affected people to submit testimonies about conditions on the ground. In addition, the public has analysed data and helped to mobilise and deliver relief resources.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Gestion des urgences
CONT

Les communications sont de première importance pour favoriser une intervention d'urgence efficace, et la coordination entre les différents paliers du gouvernement est nécessaire pour assurer la dissémination rapide des faits et pour maintenir la confiance du public.

  • Freezing and Refrigerating
DEF

That temperature a product has to reached to be totally solidified.

CONT

In vitro freezing of tissue. Early attempts at studying the effects of speed and final temperature of freezing of tissue slices on cellular damage had difficulty in separating these parameters. Rubinsky and co-workers developed a method of controlled freezing of tissue slices on a microscope slide moving along a temperature gradient between two constant temperature bases. They were able to freeze animal and human liver tissue with a constant cooling rate. Their experiments revealed that high cooling rates will result in intracellular ice formation and probably immediate cell death, representing the clinical situation very close to the cryoprobe. Lower cooling rates resulting in cellular dehydration and extracellular ice formation with large ice crystals propagating along the sinusoids, expanding them by a factor of two in diameter.
