To grow some vegetables successfully, the gardener must be able to control the conditions in the immediate vicinity of the plants. It is particularly important to control humidity, the effects of wind, and the temperature of the soil and air. Fortunately, there is help available in the form of protective coverings such as hot kaps, mulches and tunnels, which can be used to great advantage in controlling the "microenvironment" of your garden.... Poly Tunnels. These mini-greenhouses can produce excellent results when used in combination with poly mulches. The tunnel should be about. 5 m(18 in.) high and. 6 m(24 in.) wide at its base on the soil surface to enclose the mulch. In vitro freezing of tissue. Early attempts at studying the effects of speed and final temperature of freezing of tissue slices on cellular damage had difficulty in separating these parameters. Rubinsky and co-workers developed a method of controlled freezing of tissue slices on a microscope slide moving along a temperature gradient between two constant temperature bases. They were able to freeze animal and human liver tissue with a constant cooling rate. Their experiments revealed that high cooling rates will result in intracellular ice formation and probably immediate cell death, representing the clinical situation very close to the cryoprobe. Lower cooling rates resulting in cellular dehydration and extracellular ice formation with large ice crystals propagating along the sinusoids, expanding them by a factor of two in diameter. 1, record 10, English, - final%20temperature%20of%20freezing

The Vaccine Associated Adverse Events Surveillance System(VAAESS) has had its name changed to Canadian Adverse Events Following Immunization Surveillance System(CAEFISS). This new name is in harmony with international standards and emphasizes that reported events follow immunization but are not necessarily associated with vaccine. The Canadian Adverse Events Following Immunization Surveillance System(CAEFISS) was developed to provide a national monitoring system for reporting adverse events and suspected adverse events following immunization. The objectives of the system are to : ensure continued safety of marketed vaccines in Canada; monitor adverse effects that may be caused by a vaccine; identify any unusually high rates of adverse events, both with individual vaccines and individual lots of vaccine; provide timely information that can be made available to potential recipients as well as health care providers so that they can weigh the risks and benefits of immunization, and identify areas that require further epidemiologic investigation and research or problems that require immediate investigation. 1, record 11, English, - Canadian%20Adverse%20Events%20Following%20Immunization%20Surveillance%20System

1, record 11, French, - Syst%C3%A8me%20canadien%20de%20surveillance%20des%20effets%20secondaires%20suivant%20l%27immunisation
