Exhibition of the Canadian Museum of Civilization. "Created by two waves of immigration that ended more than 30 years ago, Canada's Italian community has reached an important moment in its history. While the immigrants who came during the first migratory wave(1880 to the late 1920s) have already disappeared, those who arrived during the second wave(1947 to the late 1960s) are an increasingly ageing population. As their numbers gradually decrease in the coming years, the last living witnesses of the multiple peasant cultures from which most Italian-Canadians descended will disappear as well. Exposition du Musée canadien des civilisations. «Formée à partir d'une immigration qui a pris fin il y a plus de 30 ans, la communauté italienne du Canada se trouve à un moment important de son histoire. Alors que les immigrants arrivés lors de la première vague migratoire (1880 - fin des années 1920) sont déjà disparus, ceux arrivés lors de la deuxième vague (1947 - fin des années 60) se font de plus en plus vieillissants. Avec leur progressive disparition dans les années à venir, s'effaceront aussi les derniers témoignages vivants des multiples cultures paysannes desquelles les Italo-Canadiens sont majoritairement issus.
