The prefixes "ortho-," "meta-" and "para-," along with their corresponding abbreviations ("o-," "m-" and "p-"), appear in italics and are ignored in alphabetizing. According to the actual chemical nomenclature rules in organic chemistry (in 2003), the numbers designating the positions of the disubstitution groups (1,2- for "ortho-," 1,3- for "meta-" and 1,4- for "para-") are to be preferred to the symbols "o-," "m-" and "p-." Furthermore, the prefixes "ortho-," "meta-" and "para-" should not be used anymore, and their corresponding abbreviations ("o-," "m-," and "p-") will soon be judged to be avoided, if not totally condemned. 1, record 5, English, - 4%2D%28propan%2D2%2Dyl%29benzaldehyde

Another very clever way-out was pioneered by the blind physicist Plateau already in the XIX century : the isodense tank(Plateau tank) with an immiscible liquid to balance the(high) hydrostatic gradient. But on both cases(millimetric-size liquid bridges and Plateau simulation) the mechanical behaviour(statics and dynamics) of liquid bridges is difficult to investigate under ground conditions because both techniques make experimentation difficult, imprecise and can mask effects only measurable under reduced gravity conditions. That explains why so many experiments with liquid bridges have been performed under microgravity since the pioneering demonstrations in Skylab in 1974, and how different the real behaviour of liquid bridges in space has been found. 2, record 11, English, - Plateau%20tank

In the NRC [National Research Council of Canada] Solvent Extraction Soil Remediation(SESR) Process, solvent extraction of the soil contaminant(s) occurs concurrently with agglomeration of the dispersed soil particles. Soil is initially mixed with a bulk liquid phase which must be a good solvent for the contaminant but be non-wetting with respect to the particulate surfaces. A minor amount of a second liquid is added which must be immiscible with the suspending phase but preferentially wet the soil particles. For the remediation of contaminated soils the two liquids of choice are a hydrocarbon solvent and water, respectively. 1, record 15, English, - solvent%20extraction%20soil%20remediation%20process

Solvent extraction soil remediation (SESR) is an ex situ process which uses an innovative liquid phase agglomeration (LPA) step to separate fine, dispersed particles from the extracting solvent. ... Solvent extraction soil remediation (SESR) is ideally suited to treat soils, sediments and sludges contaminated with a wide variety of organic materials such as PCBs, pesticides, herbicides, PAHs, coal tar wastes, drilling muds, crude oils, and so forth. More importantly it can treat these materials when the solid matrix contains significant amounts of fine particles, including clay and clay-like materials. 3, record 15, English, - solvent%20extraction%20soil%20remediation%20process

1, record 18, French, - catalyse%20par%20transfert%20de%20phase

Spilled immiscible liquids have been treated in a multiphase flow mode. Soil water has been considered to be constant at field capacity. As the immiscible liquid moves down..., a residual amount of the liquid... remains within the soil pores. 1, record 19, English, - residual%20amount

While a number of different types of foam are commercially available for fighting chemical fire, only two types of foam are considered in this book: "ordinary foam, such as AFFF or protein foam and "alcohol" foam, i.e., alcohol resistant foam. "Alcohol" foam is recommended for some water miscible and some immiscible flammable liquids which tend to break down other foams. In cases where a doubt exists as to the requirement for or efficiency of "alcohol" foam, "ordinary" foam is recommended. 1, record 20, English, - immiscible%20flammable%20liquid

1, record 20, French, - liquide%20inflammable%20non%20miscible
