Multiple indicators of sublethal stress(bioindicators) were used to assess the health and condition of two important estuarine fish species... following extensive flooding from three sequential hurricanes... Bioindicators ranging from the biochemical to the reproductive and organism-level were used to assess the health of southern flounder... Many of the physiological, reproductive, immunological, histopathological, and general condition indices suggested that both species... were sublethally stressed and in poorer condition than fish sampled from [the same species in another estuarine]. 2, record 1, English, - sublethal%20stress

A simple format of immunological assay is lateral flow assay(LFA) or lateral flow immunochromatographic assay(LFIA) in which a membrane is embedded with specific antibodies. Through capillary action, the sample is loaded and pathogen-specific antigens are detected by giving a colored line. Gold/fluorescent nanoparticles are generally used and embedded with antibodies on the membrane and give a clear line of positive results... 6, record 2, English, - lateral%20flow%20immunochromatographic%20assay

The main characteristic required of all solid phase immunoassays is their specificity. Whichever immunoassay is chosen and whatever its purpose, an artificial immunoadsorbent must generally be prepared, because even though natural immunoadsorbents such as bacteria, yeast, or erythrocytes can sometimes be used, their application is limited. The solid phase ... is composed of a solid support on which an immunologically active substance has been fixed. In 1955, Barnes and Loutit first described graft versus host disease(GVHD) in mice. Simonsen introduced the term graft-versus-host reaction in 1958 to describe the direction of the immunological damage caused by introduction of immunologically competent cells into an immunocompromised host. In 1966, Billingham proposed 3 conditions required for the development of GVHD, as follows :(1) the graft must contain immunologically competent cells,(2) the host must possess important transplant alloantigens that are lacking in the donor graft so that the host appears foreign to the graft, and(3) the host itself must be incapable of mounting an effective immunological reaction against the graft. According to the accepted definition, the immunologic assault itself and its consequences are referred to as GVHD. 3, record 25, English, - graft%20versus%20host%20disease

1, record 27, French, - Journ%C3%A9e%20internationale%20de%20sensibilisation%20aux%20maladies%20immunologiques%20et%20neurologiques%20chroniques

[The anti-pregnancy vaccine] works by vaccinating against the female pregnancy hormone HCG(human chorionic gonadotrophin) which is produced by the fertilized egg just after conception.... The term vaccination is a misnomer. Vaccines against disease work by stimulating and increasing the body's ability to defend itself against a specific germ.... Pregnancy, however, is not a disease. In effect, the anti-fertility "vaccine" mimics an immunological disorder... 2, record 29, English, - anti%2Dpregnancy%20hormone%20injection

Scrapie, the prototype of a group of diseases which have the unique property of being both hereditary and infectious, is also exceptional in that it fails to evoke an immune response. Purification of crude scrapie preparations showed a strong association of infectivity with a membrane protein(’PrPSC') ;but a protein with the same amino acid sequence(’PrPC') was subsequently also found in normal mammalian nervous tissue. It is postulated by some investigators that ’PrPSC' is itself the infectious agent, or the most important part thereof, but in papers making that proposal immunological aspects have not been addressed. Experimental evidence supporting the hypothesis of a membrane fragment as agent has likewise lately not been taken into account. A modified form of the membrane hypothesis could account for immunological as well as genetic aspects of these diseases. 1, record 39, English, - PrPSC

1, record 47, French, - soi%20immunologique

Eosinophilic pneumonia. Allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis is just one example of a number of disorders in which there is pulmonary disease in association with tissue and/or blood eosinophilia.... A number of immunological and other mechanisms are probably involved in these reactions. Where eosinophilic pneumonia is associated with parasite infestation, type I reactions are often suggested by a massive rise in total IgE, but in other cases(e. g. Loeffler's syndrome) the mechanism is obscure. 1, record 48, English, - eosinophilic%20pneumonia

It is evident that a number of factors must contribute to allergy and this has led to the hypothesis of allergic breakthrough, where clinical symptoms of allergy are only seen when an arbitrary level of immunological activity(allergic breakthrough) is exceeded. This will depend on a number of conditions, including exposure to allergen, genetic predisposition, the tendency to make IgE, and other factors, such as the presence of upper respiratory tract viral infections, decreased suppressor activity or transient IgA deficiency. 1, record 49, English, - allergic%20breakthrough

A study has been made of the efficacy of different immunization protocols using low antigen levels for the generation of monoclonal antibodies capable of detecting antigens (ADCP) in processed tissues. Protocols using unprocessed native antigen immobilized on nitrocellulose were more efficient than soluble antigen in generating serum antibodies reactive with both native antigen and processed tissues. The derived monoclonal antibodies reacted with native but not processed antigen. The use of antigen immobilized on polyvinylidene (PVDF) and subsequently processed as for histochemistry was successful in generating monoclonal antibodies reactive with processed antigen. 1, record 52, English, - native%20antigen
