IMPACT MARK [4 records]

Record 1 2013-07-18

English

Subject field(s)
  • Epidermis and Dermis
CONT

Why is easy bruising so common in older adults? Most bruises form when small blood vessels(capillaries) near the skin's surface are broken by the impact of a blow or injury-often on the arms or legs. When this happens, blood leaks out of the vessels and initially appears as a bright or dark red, purple or black mark. Eventually your body reabsorbs the blood, and the mark disappears.

Subject field(s)

CONT

Time series studies. These suggested that the US dollar might not have been a perfect substitute in international investors’ portfolios for the Canadian dollar, French franc, Deutsche Mark, Italian lira, Japanese yen or the pound sterling, thus implying that sterilised intervention is likely to have had a direct impact on exchange rates.

CONT
