lignin model compounds: Synthesized compounds which are assumed to be reasonable representatives or models of lignin units.

Common model compounds are produced from oxidative coupling of coniferyl alcohol or p-coumaryl alcohol. Model compounds are used to study the kinetics of bleaching reactions and to characterize bleaching reactions in order to improve the selectivity, efficiency, and environmental impact of bleaching processes.

[...] il a été démontré que les boranamines peuvent efficacement blanchir une pâte thermomécanique d'épinette-sapin en réduisant les groupements aldéhydes de la lignine. [...] Les boranamines sont sensibles à la densité électronique des groupements carbonyles et donnent de meilleurs résultats de blanchiment à pH acide. La réduction chimique de certains composés modèles de la lignine indique que les boranamines peuvent réduire ou même inhiber la réversion photochimique.

La plupart de ces composés sont produits par couplage oxydatif de l'alcool conyférylique ou p-coumarylique. Ils sont employés pour étudier la cinétique des réactions de blanchiment ainsi que les mécanismes de ces réactions. Ceci afin d'améliorer la sélectivité, l'efficacité et l'impact environnemental des procédés de blanchiment.
