When evaluating a patient who has evidence of cognitive decline, a number of reversible causes need to be excluded before one can diagnose a neurodegenerative pathology. One well‐known cause that needs to be excluded is depression.... Less commonly, other psychiatric conditions, such as mania, other psychoses, and conversion disorder, can also impair cognition and produce a similar clinical picture. Historically, this general phenomenon has been known as "pseudodementia"—defined as a psychiatric condition masquerading as neurodegenerative disease, but which is largely reversible when the psychiatric condition resolves or is successfully treated. 2, record 5, English, - pseudodementia

A sterol called sitostanol, also called stanol, is now being used in margarines(Benecol, Take Control). Benecol is derived from pine bark and Take Control from soybeans; both are effective. Studies on stanol margarines have reported lower LDL and total cholesterol with their use, including children with inherited high cholesterol levels, although not all studies are positive. In one 1999 study, sitostanol was significantly effective in reducing cholesterol absorption, but only when it was mixed in a solution containing lecithin. Of concern is the possibility that stanol may block absorption of important fat-soluble nutrients. One study suggested that it may impair absorption of beta carotene and vitamin E but has no effect on vitamins A and D, two other fat soluble vitamins. 1, record 59, English, - stanol

4, record 59, French, - stanol

The Sulfate Regional Experiment(SURE) was designed to investigate the behavior of airborne sulfur oxides and associated substances over the greater northeastern United States. The study area extended from eastern Kansas to the Atlantic seaboard and from mid-Alabama to southeastern Canada, an area of approximately 2, 400 by 1, 000 km. The study was motivated by concerns in the early 1970s that suspended sulfates impair human health when inhaled in a mixture of pollutant gases and other suspended particulate components. The primary objectives of the SURE project were : establish a regional air quality data base through measurements of several parameters at the ground and aloft with specified accuracy and precision, and evaluate the adequacy of the measurements selected for establishing the origins of the sulfur oxide particulate complex. 3, record 61, English, - Sulfate%20Regional%20Experiment
