As part of the Director General' s Office(DGO), the Office of Coordination and Risk Management is responsible for the coordination of the risk management program that facilitates timely and effective resolution of issues and ensures a coordinated and unified response on behalf of the Directorate. The Directorate emergency preparedness and business continuity activities are also coordinated out of this Office. The Office also houses the Secretariat for the Directorate's Expert Advisory Committee's and coordinates the requests for reconsideration of final decisions issued for human drug submissions. The Health Care System Division(HCSD) provides analytical and policy leadership on issues related to broader health system renewal such as fiscal transfers, governance and accountability, innovation and productivity in health care, and the roles and interface of the public and private sectors. It also coordinates and provides policy leadership in the Health Care Policy Directorate on horizontal issues such as monitoring the implementation of First Ministers’ agreements, performance reporting and research. As well, the Division provides secretariat support to the federal/provincial/territorial Advisory Committee on Governance and Accountability. The Directorate provides departmental leadership and strategic advice in the development and implementation of broad-based management accountability initiatives. The Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Strategy(AHWS) supports a comprehensive approach to reducing family violence in First Nations and Aboriginal communities and improving the health of Aboriginal people who live on or off reserves. The Strategy enables Aboriginal communities to address family violence and health service needs, through the integration of traditional Aboriginal teachings and mainstream health services and interventions. The AHWS is an inter-ministerial initiative, jointly managed by the Ministry of Community and Social Services, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, the Ontario Native Affairs Secretariat, Ontario Women's Directorate, and 15 Aboriginal organizations and First Nations.
