ICCE is one of the commissions of the International Association of Hydrological Sciences(IAHS). The field of interest of ICCE may be broadly defined as including the erosion, transport and deposition of sediment and the interaction of these processes with other components of the environment and with water resource development. The Commission is principally concerned with promoting improved understanding of erosion and sedimentation processes, primarily as they relate to hydrology and fluvial geomorphology, and including both mechanical and chemical denudation. It also aims to promote the study of global patterns of erosion and sediment yield and their controls and the impact of human activity on erosion and sedimentation and to encourage the development and application of new methods for investigating erosion and sediment delivery, including the use of environmental radionuclides as sediment tracers, and the implementation of novel modelling techniques.

Implementation of the Worker Profiling and Reemployment Services(WPRS) system is a prominent first step in building a nation-wide reemployment system. State reemployment insurance, labor exchange and training partners are implementing WPRS systems in all States. Amendments to the Social Security Act contained in P. L. 103-152 require that UI [unemployment insurance] claimants who are identified through profiling methods as likely to exhaust benefits and who are in need of reemployment services to transition to new employment participate in reemployment services, such as job search assistance.
