En 1978, l'ADRC (Agence des douanes et du revenu du Canada) a mis sur pied le Service de chiens détecteurs à titre de projet pilote dans le district de Windsor. À l'heure actuelle, l'ADRC compte 42 équipes de chiens détecteurs postées stratégiquement dans les six régions du Canada, où les voyageurs et les expéditions commerciales sont traités. Le Service de chiens détecteurs joue un rôle important, car il prévient l'entrée de stupéfiants et d'armes à feu au pays. GLOBE(Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) programme, is an Internet-based communications network of around 10 000 schools in 90 countries. Derived from a 1994 initiative of former US Vice President Al Gore, it is a global environment programme involving school students, teaching staff and scientists. Its purpose is to understand, through long-term observations and measurement, important developments occurring in the Earth's environment.
