Agent-based modeling differs from traditional, regression-based methods in that, like systems dynamics modeling, it allows for the exploration of complex systems that display non-independence of individuals and feedback loops in causal mechanisms. It is not limited to observed data and can be used to model the counterfactual or experiments that may be impossible or unethical to conduct in the real world. However, agent-based modeling is not without its limitations. The data parameters(such as the reproductive rate for infectious diseases) are often difficult to find in the literature. In addition, the validity of the model can be difficult to assess, particularly when modeling unobserved associations. 5, record 11, English, - agent%2Dbased%20modelling

It is impossible to observe the transition from quantum to classical behaviour in macroscopic systems because the decoherence occurs on timescales that are too short to be measured. However, it is possible with mesoscopic systems such as atoms and ions. In the Boulder experiment the ion is confined in a magnetic trap and cooled so that quantum effects dominate its behaviour. This behaviour can be observed in quantum interference fringes. [Scientists at the National Institute of Standards and Technology] then introduced various external disturbances to the trap that would cause the quantum behaviour to decohere into classical behaviour. 3, record 24, English, - quantum%20decoherence

Amorphous graphite - this form [of natural graphite] is the product of coal’s thermal metamorphism. It comes in the form of powder. It is also known as meta-anthracite. 3, record 39, English, - amorphous%20graphite
Record number: 39, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The term "amorphous graphite" is a contradiction in terms. All graphite is crystalline by definition; therefore it is impossible for graphite to be amorphous. However, the term was applied due to the anhedral(no visible crystallinity) morphology of this form of graphite. To the untrained eye a piece of amorphous graphite simply looks amorphous, like a lump of anthracite coal. 4, record 39, English, - amorphous%20graphite

Chaufferette.

The Advanced Boiling Water Reactor(ABWR) is an improved design of [a] boiling water reactor. The ABWR was designed by General Electric as their generation III reactor. One chief improvement is that the recirculation pumps and piping are contained inside the reactor pressure vessel, thus making it impossible for them to leak outside of the vessel. Also, in the event of a loss of coolant accident(LOCA), plant response has been fully automated and operator action is not required for 3 days. These and other improvements make the plant significantly safer than previous reactors. 2, record 63, English, - advanced%20boiling%20water%20reactor

There are two broad types of agricultural taxation in developing countries, namely explicit and implicit taxes. Explicit taxes involve charges on land, taxes on inputs such as water, fertilizer, etc., and taxes on output. Income taxes, which belong to the category of explicit taxes, are almost impossible to implement in the context of a country with undeveloped bureaucracy and information system and are rarely used. Implicit taxes involve taxes and/or subsidies of the non-agricultural sector, which change the terms of trade for agriculture. 3, record 67, English, - agricultural%20taxation

Frustration of purpose is, in a sense, the converse of impracticability. The two ideas resemble each other in that neither is concerned with cases in which performance has become impossible. Impracticability is said to arise when a supplier of goods, services or other facilities alleges that performance of his own promise has become so burdensome to him that he should no longer be bound to render it. The argument of frustration of purpose, on the other hand, is put forward by the recipient of the goods, services or facilities : it is that supervening events have so greatly reduced the value to him of the other party's performance that he should no longer be bound to accept and pay for it. 2, record 78, English, - frustration%20of%20purpose

The basis of prescription is that if long enjoyment of a right is shown, the court will strive to uphold the right by presuming that it had a lawful origin. Thus the court may presume, on proof of the fact of long enjoyment, that there once was an actual grant of the right, even though it is impossible to produce any direct evidence of such a grant. 2, record 92, English, - acquisition%20by%20presumed%20grant

Two imputation methods were used : deterministic imputation and nearest-neighbour imputation. Wherever possible, missing or inconsistent values were imputed using the deterministic method, which involved adding or subtracting the available components to determine the value of the missing component. Deterministic imputation was used only for households that had no other members aged 18 or older and only one missing income source.
