A pot-vitrification process has been developed for the fixation of fission products either in phosphate or borosilicate glasses. 1, record 1, English, - pot%2Dvitrification
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The discontinuous/one stage process is a "pot vitrification process". The three phases follow one another in the same unit, the "pot". The liquid waste and glass forming additives are introduced simultaneously and slowly heated and solidified by heating the pot in a furnace up to the glass formation temperature. The pot is then removed from the furnace and serves as the storage container. The feeding process and the heating method may be altered. 2, record 1, English, - pot%2Dvitrification

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT

4, record 1, French, - vitrification%20en%20pot

Pot calcination. The liquid [radioactive] waste is evaporated as much as possible without separation of solids .... It is then transferred to a "pot" made of stainless-steel pipe heated in a ... furnace in which the dissolved solids are thermally decomposed to metal oxides and sulfates at temperatures up to 900°C. ... After calcination it is detached and sent to disposal with its content. 2, record 2, English, - in%2Dcan%20melting
