Crop-yield weather modelling refers to the techniques [that] can be used operationally to determine the likely effect of weather on yields. Although the incidence of weather conditions on yields is well established, its quantitative assessment is not always straightforward : time series analyses of agricultural statistics show that inter-annual variability... of crop yields can be roughly subdivided into [three] components :(i) trend,(ii) direct weather factors[, ] and(iii) indirect weather effects, pests, diseases, weed competition, etc. 1, record 1, English, - crop%2Dyield%20weather%20modelling

Climate change, notably through temperature extremes and precipitation patterns, is affecting the geographic distribution, seasonality, and incidence of vectors and the diseases they transmit, known as vector-borne diseases. Vectors like mosquitoes, ticks, and fleas, can carry infective pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and parasitic worms. The most common way vectors can transfer pathogens to other animal hosts, including humans, is by biting or bloodsucking. 3, record 5, English, - vectorborne%20disease

In 2003, $32M were dedicated over five years toward the development and implementation of the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch Targeted Immunization Strategy(FNIHB-TIS) to increase immunization coverage rates and ensure access to newly recommended vaccines. The goal of the program is to provide a strategy that integrates with the Canadian national immunization strategy, resulting in the reduced incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases and their sequelae by March 2008. The objectives of the program are to : Improve the coverage rates for routine immunizations in the targeted population of FN children under six years of age living on-reserve, and move towards the international immunization coverage target of 95%; Implement newly recommended vaccines(conjugate pneumococcal, conjugate meningococcal C, and varicella [chickenpox]) across the country or the targeted population ;Improve the data and understanding of immunization coverage rates, the incidence of vaccine-preventable diseases, barriers to immunization and best practices in implementation. 1, record 7, English, - Targeted%20Immunization%20Strategy

1, record 7, French, - Strat%C3%A9gie%20d%27immunisation%20cibl%C3%A9e

Kuru is a slow-virus disease, once prevalent in New Guinea and rarely seen now. Kuru causes neurodegenerative changes similar to another slow virus disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, whose distribution is worldwide. In addition, similar slow-virus diseases appear in sheep as scrapie, mink as mink encephalopathy, and in cows as bovine spongiform encephalopathy(BSE). Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease has been found with increased incidence in North Africa where sheepbrains and eyes are a common part of the diet. 1, record 13, English, - slow%20virus%20disease
