Everything that we can see and touch is made up of particles, the basic building blocks of nature. Particles like protons, neutrons, and electrons compose the atoms of the computer or phone you are touching right now.... Many technologies we commonly use today are the results of research spin-off from particle physics. These byproducts were developed to build and run experiments or to support the activities of the particle physics community. Two impactful examples include medical scanners used in hospitals and the World Wide Web. Both are indirect products of fundamental research conducted by particle physicists while conducting their primary research. 1, record 1, English, - particle%20physicist

Knowledge brokering activities include finding the right players to influence research use in decision-making, bringing these players together, creating and helping to sustain relationships among them, and helping them to engage in collaborative problem-solving. The word "encumbrance" is not a technical term. Rather, it is a general expression and must be interpreted in the context in which it is found. It has a broad meaning and may include many disparate claims, charges, liens or burdens on land. It has been defined as "every right to or interest in land granted to the diminution of the value of the land but consistent with the passing of the fee". Supercell [is] a thunderstorm with a persistent rotating updraft. Supercells are rare, but are responsible for a remarkably high percentage of severe weather events-especially tornadoes, extremely large hail and damaging straight-line winds. They frequently travel to the right of the main environmental winds(i. e., they are right movers). Radar characteristics often(but not always) include a hook or pendant, bounded weak echo region(BWER), V-notch, mesocyclone, and sometimes a TVS [Tornado Vortex Signature]. Visual characteristics often include a rain-free base(with or without a wall cloud), tail cloud, flanking line, overshooting top, and back-sheared anvil, all of which normally are observed in or near the right rear or southwest part of the storm. Storms exhibiting these characteristics often are called classic supercells; however HP(High Precipitation) storms and LP(Low Precipitation) storms also are supercell varieties. 3, record 49, English, - classic%20supercell

The western provinces abolished dower but replaced it with homestead rights.... Rights in the homestead include the right to refuse consent to a change of homestead or to its sale(sales made without consent are void), a life estate in the whole of the homestead to the surviving spouse, and certain immunity from seizure of the homestead by creditors.... Homestead rights give the wife somewhat better protection than does dower : during her husband's lifetime she can prevent the sale of the homestead completely; and if she survives him, she has an exclusive life interest in the whole of the homestead rather than the one-third interest of dower. Homestead rights are less cumbersome than dower-they do not affect other real property of the spouse. 5, record 56, English, - homestead%20right

The elevator operator pays the producer according to this decision. You both have the right to ask for a review of the results if either of you disagrees with the decision. You must make this request to a CGC service centre within 30 days of the date the certificate is issued. The Regional Inspector reviews the results of the moisture test. This involves verifying the accuracy of the test by checking equipment readings recorded when the sample was tested. It could also include checking if the moisture metre has been properly calibrated. Information from this review is then sent to the Chief Grain Inspector's office for final review. The Chief Grain Inspector's decision is final and binding upon both of you. Researchers define handedness based on different theoretical assumptions. For instance, some define handedness as(a) the hand that performs faster or more precisely on manual tests, while others define it as(b) the hand that one prefers to use, regardless of performance. Some think that there are two types of handedness :(a) either left or right or non-right, while others think there should be three categories(to include ambidexterity). Some think there are two different kinds of ambidexterity. Some think that handedness should not be lumped into 2 or 3 or 5 categories, but rather measured along a scale of a continuum. 3, record 61, English, - handedness

Densified Pellet Technology. Pellets are dried ground wood or other biomass waste compressed into small cylinders about 6 mm(1/4 in.) in diameter and 25 mm(1 in.) long. The pressure and heat created during their production binds the pellets together without the need for additives. Pellet-burning appliances include a hopper to hold at least 20 kg of fuel and a screw auger to move the pellets from the hopper into the combustion chamber. Pellets usually burn cleanly because they are fed to the combustion chamber at a controlled rate and are matched with the right amount of combustion air. NDHQ 97 is the largest accommodation project ever undertaken by the Department of National Defence or the government. It's more than just moving people from building to building. It's refitting buildings and general office space, using a new design concept called the universal footprint. It's adapting accommodation to re-engineered organizations. It's also purchasing and installing furniture best suited to a modern, dynamic organization. The headquarters will have a new look. In the four buildings... corridors will run along the windows. Offices will be clustered at the centre of each floor. Major traffic will flow outside work areas, not through them. People working in teams will have work areas designed for teams. Offices will have more natural light, better air conditioning and better ventilation. Some screens will have glazed windows to allow natural light to spill through. Each workstation will include large, well-lit work surfaces for computers and overall, will have more usable workspace. Plenty of storage space will be located above and below work surfaces. But employees will be encouraged to make the most of their space by storing information on diskette, rather than in filing cabinets. The look will be cleaner and less cluttered. And whether people are tall or short, they’ll be able to adjust their desks, chairs and computers to the height that's right for them. 3, record 68, English, - universal%20footprint

4, record 68, French, - plan%20universel

General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade(GATT). The safeguard provisions clarify the rules governing the use of a measure a country may take to protect a specific domestic industry from an unforeseen increase in imports of a product that is causing, or likely to cause, serious injury to its domestic industry. Permitted safeguard measures under GATT include the right to impose temporarily a restrictive trade measure on imports that cause, or threaten to cause, serious injury to a domestic industry. To discourage frivolous actions, however, the country imposing the safeguard measure may have to compensate its trading partners for lost trade. The agreement ensures that all countries will use comparable rules and procedures when taking safeguard actions. In the aggregate, a safeguard measure cannot exceed eight years, and must be progressively liberalized during its lifetime. 1, record 70, English, - Safeguard%20provisions
